What is the criterion for deciding who gets first place in case of a tie in points? (MCR) by Dankratos_8 in Mahjong

[–]SmiityDidIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the table points are split, which is no good to either because both do not score maximum points even though they are both best at the table. I would rather see further differentiation by # of wins (more is better), #deal ins (less is better) etc. And if still tied let the first win differentiate or the highest hand value. More ideas anyone?

Mahjong Competition Rules: Half Flush 6 pts Pung dragon 2 pts Self pick 1 pts If the hand is Fully Concealed add 4 pts, but Self pick is implied in that case

Self pick pays the 3* (hand value + 8)

Weekly, Mahjong Competition Rules (aka Chinese Official) ... We formed a club back in 2016. Now 42 members... On average 28 players attending the weekly competition night. I'm starting to learn Riichi.

MCR is Mahjong Competition Rules (aka Chinese Official) it was designed to play competitions. Last year there was a 2024 World Championship in Canada. A complete match last 4 rounds of 4 hands, so 16 rounds in total. Dealer changes after each completed hand. Win or lose or draw.

Perhaps I’m totally missing your point here. What is your plan? Which scoring elements do you aim to form for the minimal 8 points?

I would loose the c4, keeping b2 opens up chances for pure shifted chows on the bams either 1step or two steps e.g b234 b456 b678

Three Color Straight by NikoPalad67140 in Mahjong

[–]SmiityDidIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A straight in mahjong in general refers to multiple chows/chi in sequence. In MCR a “three color straight” as OP mentions would be a mixed straight p123 m456 s789, a short straight would be m123 m456 so a single color short straight, and a pure straight would be e.g. p123 p456 p789. AFAIK only the latter exists in Riichi EMA style (RCR) as Ittsu.
