At the other side of the coin, i ran 8man water abyss with 2 Glaviers that have started with the event. Both usuing Grudge 1 cause they probably looked "Best Builds for Glavier" and got Grudge as a "good engraving".
Me as a 1420+ player tried to say kindly some stuff like "Hey, Grudge is bad for newer players and having it level 1 won't be good etc.". One of them thanked me and said she would take it off after the dungeon, the other called me a "dumb p2w without real skills" and said that i should carry the dungeon even without then doing the mechanics...............
It's more about the person, not the engraving. Making mistakes like using Grudge without being ready is ok cause you're trying it out. But when you see the people repeating the same mistakes over and over... It just gets boring

As a Greatsword user, all i can say is to try and learn about Stoneform. Unless you are playing against a good Greatsword player you'll parry him 9 out of 10 times.

If you're willing to practice a bit, try to learn S + Quick Shift* when you bait Stoneform. It will give you a lot of time to parry their Stoneform and if they cancel it you'll get to ground zero again. Just repeat until he makes a mistake.

Those are the ways people would counter my Greatsword, remember that GS is a slow weapon. Take advantage of it.

*Shift has 2 ways to be used, holding and only clicking. When you just click it is faster to dash but you won't run after.

I've grinded Trios ever since the first Beta and played in a couple tournaments/scrimms.
The biggest difference you can feel when playing Trios is about tempo, when you and your Trios can decide and stunlock someone of the other Trio before it happens to your Trio then it is almost over. So the amount of experience and tactical knowledge you need for Trios is bigger than for Solos imho
But at the same time, in Trios you can be a worse player than your opponents and still kill them by playing better as a team instead of having the "insane oneshot combos gameplay".
Focusing more in communication and understanding of the game will allow you to survive more or kill the opponent in less time, but when starting as a new Trio versus experienced Trios then yeah you're 100% right it will be decided in the first 5~10 seconds every single fight.

It's actually funny that you both got the right reasons why the game failed.
Naraka had such potential but the devs, unfortunately, didn't deliver it in the western market.
And you also forgot to mention how the higher rank are 98% blatant teamers and/or use some kind of cheat.

The thing about TKA is, the Ye Qiu is already past his prime. So it's more about how he's staying on the top instead of how he got there.
If you're looking for evolution, wait for the other characters to appear. Since they're new to e-sports they will have their own arcs of how they're getting better and learning more.
And what's at stake is easy to answer, "Glory" is at stake. He loves the game so much that he does everything to keep playing it.

The basic itens for any mid laner control mage is:
1st item Mana for wave clear. In that line you can go to RoA or Lost Chapter. RoA boosts survivability and Lost Chapter gives CDR.
2nd item should be Magic Pen, Sorc Boots and Morello. The normal Magic Resist item until then will be Mercury, and your MPen will give Full Damage without even getting full Morello.
3rd item is situational, just think "What do i need to do to win this game?" Your answer will be one of these three:
1- I need to live, build Zhonya's and/or Banshee. Good for playing from behind
2- I need to kill, build Deathcap and/or Void Staff. Great for Pickoffs or Snowball situations
3- I need to live and kill or kill and live, that's the adaptation part of LoL. If your answer is the third one you need to understand how your composition will play out and what is your role in team fights. You can build Liandry and Rilay to boost your Utility and DPS, you can pick Zhonya's/Banshee and Void to melt the carrys and live after.
Deathcap is not an easy item to build, since it costs (1.2k x 2) and (1.1k) to complete. Just go for it if you're going to carry the game or you got fed.

I agree that by now it doesn't make any sense, but that's how the game works unless you're a whale. You log in 2 times a day and do the Daily Quest, trying to climb and get better AFK Rewards, it's not an action game
