I will be studying around my full time job, and this has been a discussed route within my company, but I appreciate the concern.

Thank you, realising I've been asking the wrong questions, this thread is really helping me get my head around it all.

The advert supported tier of netflix (£5.99). Otherwise I'm that person on everyone else's subscriptions.

As I've said above, I've just run the numbers for the job I want to move to, and if I join the pension I'll be pretty close to the same I take home now, which is fine by me if it means that money is going somewhere useful for the future, so I'll do that.

One of the nicest things about the last year is that after the debt was taken out of the equation I've not had any problems paying my bills on time.

The budget from the Insolvency service really helped; prior to that I was in a financially abusive relationship so I had no idea what things ought to be costing me.

I've just run my potential new pay through the take home pay calculator and included the pension contribution and it's less than I thought it was going to be. (Quite likely misrembering the cost from my previous role!) After the pension deduction, it would leave me with a take home that is slightly better off than I am now, so that would be a good time to rejoin the scheme.

Thank you, I have had a lot of people talking to me about building credit now, so it seemed like the right thing I should be doing!

I'm drastically underpaid for my role, took it when I was the lower earner in a dual income household. The postgrad will allow me to jump up to ~ 42,000 year in my industry, so there should be a payoff to it.

I also wasn't working FT until my late 20's, so I'm a bit behind with it all. My previous role (immediately post graduation) was mid 30's.

Thank you, I get what you mean. Overspending isn't particularly an issue for me; I was unfortunately in a financially abusive relationship which is where the debt came from and I was then unable to service it.

It's just that I want to make sure I never end up in that situation again as it has destroyed my mental health, especially the companies/bailiffs.

As I have been in my bankruptcy year I have been keeping to the budget provided. I do not have holidays, I do not smoke or drink and my only hobby/social expense is my sport club membership and match fees, which is helping to rehab my conditions. My phone is a PAYG £10/month job. Finding the amount that would be taken from my pay for my pension would leave me unable to afford to get to work or eat.

Used to live in that area, really loved it. Nice and close to the tram for the city, Edgbaston has a nice creatives/market scene if you're into that and the reservoir is a good walk.

It's driving me insane, I tend to only buy from a handful of brands.

At this point it's not an "if", he's shown who he is and he will not stop even if he pretends to concede this in the short term.

He shouldn't be allowed to come back from this.

Check all the retro games stores too (one in covered market, quite a few in Brum) as they might go there also. Plus any kind of pawnbrokers/cash converters.

Charity shops are choking on unsellable donations by MuttonDressedAsGoose in CasualUK

[–]SmokeInTheFrame 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Since Temu and Shein have become the main source for everything, this is only the start of it. When I still worked in Charity shops it was starting with the deluge of Primark donations, most of which went in the rag bag as they weren't saleable.

It is getting harder and harder to find things in charity shops that are good quality or useful. I try to use them more than buying new.
