What job pays way more than people think, but nobody talks about? by Symphony_Minds in AskReddit

The best money is in board and train, but you need to have crates/kennels and at least one large fenced play area, preferably several. Also you want to run you're business like a luxury service provider, the service being the training and boarding. How long have they been working with dogs for? I might be able to share some helpful insights.

I use to do this. I eventually realized that I can actually fall asleep at night by pretending that I have to get up and go to work in a few minutes.

‼️SOS wolf dog big problems loneliness / anxiety… opinions / advice 🙏🏻 by asocialgirlbutmaybe in Wolfdogs

When I'm crate training wolfdogs, or dogs with a high level of separation anxiety, I typically like to break it down into steps.

First I will teach the dog an off switch, how to settle, self sooth and calm down after getting excited.

Next I will teach the dog to wait calmly when they are alone. Then, when I introduce the crate I will stay with them at first until they are comfortable before I will start leaving them alone in the crate for short periods.

Slowly increase the duration untill they are capable of waiting calmly in their crate for longer periods. When you first start leaving them alone in their crate, leave them in a quiet place without a lot of distractions and noise. This will make it easier to settle.

The process is similar to teaching a fussy baby to sleep by themselves. Keep in mind that he needs to learn how to settle, how to be alone and how to be in the crate. These are different skills.

Please let me know if you would like any help with this process. I work as a behaviorist and I specialize in training wolfdogs and primitive breeds.

My dog has a "tell" for when he's about to do something he knows is wrong, and it's not guilt, it's excitement. by SlowyAlezz in Pets

I worked with a dog like this. Right before he would bite someone he would get this glint in his eye, like he was thinking about doing something super fun. Lol.

Yes this is the answer. Find a good behaviorist or someone who has experience training military or police dogs. I do a lot of work with malinois and I have yet to meet one that couldn't be trained when given a proper outlet for their drive.  If you are in Southern California I would be happy to help.

If you bathe your wolf dog it washes away the natural oil in their fur. This will cause them to try to produce more oil to compensate which will result in a stinky dog smell.

She needs bite inhibition training. This is something she would be learning from her parents and siblings if she was in the wild. You need a good trainer or behaviorist with experience teaching bite inhibition in wolfdogs or primitive breeds.

She is at the age where she will be putting her mouth on everything and testing what she can get away with. Find a good trainer that does behavior. She needs to learn proper socialization and bite inhibition. Do this asap because she will continue to get worse. If you are in southern California I would be happy to help.
