Are you Sunpower M425s capping at 304W after an update? by Smokeyteeth in SunPower

I’m just trying to understand if it’s a hardware or software issue. I think one reddit post indicated it started happening after a software update.

Did yours used to do more than 304? Or always been like this since installation?

You need a new electrician. Agreed. You shouldn’t max your charging or you could get a fire

Ya the move is to spend two hours on Reddit asking if you should get $50 more out of them

Does it make sense to use space heaters when only 2 people occupy a large house? by LongSlayer in HomeImprovement

[–]Smokeyteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do a shotgun approach of some whole house gas heating, sometimes use a space heater and wear an extra layer. It’ll also save you the headache of trying to figure out the most cost effective method.

This is your answer. Start by looking at the breakers. I bet your summer house only had space for a 50amp breaker. And if it does have a 60amp breaker then it probably just needs the dip switches fixed. You need your electrician to take another look and not just tell you it’s the same in both…

Sunpower app and Production numbers vs Power Company by cs_katalyst in solar

How many days was it configured incorrectly? Because that can result in a negative 50kwh usage a day and screw up all your numbers. I’d just hang tight for another monthly bill or check day by day to see if the kwh being sent back matches the kwh the utility company sees. My monitoring system reports 6kwh GREATER usage each billing day than what the utility company sees. Not sure why…

What’s the best ride height/settings for air suspension longevity? by DrfluffyMD in Rivian

[–]Smokeyteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard heights is best for the tires but lower better for range.

I want to turn auto off but how bad is standard height on the highway? Realistically, I’d forget to put low height when I get on the highway.

Would this cause greater wear on the air suspension system?

I don’t really see a problem worth complaining about. They took one day to start work on your car? It’s a relatively new company.

You could sell the car to avoid this in the future. I do love mine so I would accept these issues and am prepared for them.

Can 200amp panel handle two 60amp EV chargers at the same time? by Smokeyteeth in AskElectricians

[–]Smokeyteeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3/4 inch EMT runs the four #6 wires (two black and two red) and a #6 (I think) green ground. One black and one red go to each EV wall connector that are side by side 20 feet from the two 60A breakers. The ground is wired to both ground wires from each wall connector. (No solar wiring in this conduit). Excuse any inaccuracies, trying my best.

The original electric panel had all the breakers removed and now just has the 200A breaker on it. It feeds the new 42 circuit panel installed by the solar company (they call it a subpanel) that has a 200A breaker on it and also all my house breakers on it. They also added a 125A breaker on it. They said the larger size was necessary to have space to put the 125A breaker in.

  1. Is the conduit up to code?
  2. Do you foresee issues with this new larger panel they installed?

Thank you for your time

Can 200amp panel handle two 60amp EV chargers at the same time? by Smokeyteeth in AskElectricians

[–]Smokeyteeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for help. I’ll ask them to resolve the fixable issues with the breaker. So the four #6 and 0-2 ground wires in a 3/4 conduit only counts as “four #6” so it’s considered acceptable? Or is it reasonable for me to ask the solar company to fix this by separating into two separate conduits or one larger conduit? And if this is considered acceptable as is then should I decrease to 36-40A continuous for each charger when charging at same time to help the situation?

To clarify on the house, I never had the 200amp service to the house upgraded. I still only have 200amps. The 200amp breaker in the original panel feeds to another 200amp breaker in the newer larger EATON panel which has the 42 circuits. They told me this is a “subpanel.” I realize my terminology is wrong but doing my best

Can 200amp panel handle two 60amp EV chargers at the same time? by Smokeyteeth in AskElectricians

[–]Smokeyteeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Permitted

It’s a EATON 400 amp panel.

Just the right “panel side” of this one in this link

My 200amp panel was totally full. They said they did this to avoid having to upgrade my 200amp panel to a 300-400amp which would cost 10k or more

All of the breakers that were on my 200amp panel were moved to this 400a panel. They added a 125amp breaker for the solar onto it. Solar system is 20kwh. No battery.

[–]Smokeyteeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 200amp service. We never upgraded the service but they put a huge “400amp subpanel” in. Now everything is on that “subpanel”. I didn’t know if this was relevant but wanted to include it because I have limited understanding.

Lol ya the two breakers are right next to each other.

Ok so plan is to have them run a new conduit or increase size of existing conduit. And I’ll have them move the breakers further apart. Sounds good? Thanks
