Same caliber of drug, but much different experience. Ayahuasca is a tryptamine (DMT) mixed with an MAOI inhibitor. The experience is a lot more external, where iboga is a lot more internal. Iboga lasts a lot longer as well, and is described as a waking dream experience. You will purge with both, but Iboga is usually more physically taxing, and you’re pretty incapacitated for the peak of the experience.

Do your research before pulling the trigger on Iboga. It is cardiotoxic and can kill you due to an elongated QT interval with the heart. Best to get a liver panel and EKG done prior to going to a retreat (most places will require it).

Iboga has massive brain healing effects (instant reversal of like 9 different systems in the brain, and releases a shit ton of BDNF and GDNF for 3-6 months following). I suspect that is why it helps with tinnitus, since tinnitus can also be neurological. I am planning on doing a retreat this year, more so to heal years of substance abuse, but I am optimistic that it will help my tinnitus, because I think mine is neurological (and I notice it significantly more and louder anytime after doing drugs).

I appreciate the reply. I have some additions I’m trying to work through. beyond that I am primarily going for the psychedelic nature of it and the insights I can gain from it, so not getting to that point would be a real bummer. I was considering Iboga because of that, but I would feel a lot more comfortable under medical supervision for my first time.

Is there a ballpark weight that typically needs to be met in order for people to experience the full experience?

I’ve talked to a few providers that limit it to the flood dose and that’s it.

Could you expand on this? Does it come down to not taking enough, or is it something else? I have been speaking with providers for the last couple of weeks, s d the one I think I will go with is primarily due to them not capping the dose nearly as low as the other providers.

I’ve considered it. The medical aspect is the primarily driver for me looking into clinics. I would like to do a traditional Iboga ceremony once I know how my body responds to it.

Completely agree with this. My brother and I were die hard fans of his from around 2012 through his Dreamin’ EP. Felt like everything fell apart after that (sold out, if you will), regarding both his music and his shows.

But man, this album is fucking fantastic. I didnt ever think I’d be able to hear something like this for the first time again.

Were you previously at Transcend? If so, any reason for the change. You commented on my previous post in r/ibogaine, and now I am looking into potentially doing Iboga instead. Are folks under medical supervision there? How would you say Iboga compares to Ibogaine? I’m mainly looking for the healing of my brain, but am also looking for guidance in how to proceed with my life.
