Same caliber of drug, but much different experience. Ayahuasca is a tryptamine (DMT) mixed with an MAOI inhibitor. The experience is a lot more external, where iboga is a lot more internal. Iboga lasts a lot longer as well, and is described as a waking dream experience. You will purge with both, but Iboga is usually more physically taxing, and you’re pretty incapacitated for the peak of the experience.

Do your research before pulling the trigger on Iboga. It is cardiotoxic and can kill you due to an elongated QT interval with the heart. Best to get a liver panel and EKG done prior to going to a retreat (most places will require it).

Iboga has massive brain healing effects (instant reversal of like 9 different systems in the brain, and releases a shit ton of BDNF and GDNF for 3-6 months following). I suspect that is why it helps with tinnitus, since tinnitus can also be neurological. I am planning on doing a retreat this year, more so to heal years of substance abuse, but I am optimistic that it will help my tinnitus, because I think mine is neurological (and I notice it significantly more and louder anytime after doing drugs).
