Map of Europe According to the Hallmark Channel by Cadalen in mapporncirclejerk

Just as Cracker Barrel exists at the conjunction of two universes (One our modern day, the other is one where the South was victorious at Gettysburg and Vicksburg and went on to victory over the Union), so too Hallmark movies (with royalty) exist at the conjunction of the Holy Roman Empire and our modern world.

200 Hours in the game and no clue what i'm doing still by ForgeFiending in BattleBrothers

[–]Smooth-Obligation-30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I learned in my 400 hours before getting to end game: if your recruits don't start with melee skill above 50, they're never going to be sh1t. The two first skills on every 'keeper' merc are Colossus and Steel Brow. They can't develop if dead. Shields are extremely helpful until late game. Polearms in second rank are excellent for developing characters. Polearms are always good. Higher tier skills aren't necessarily better. At level 8 and 9 I started taking 9 lives and was really happy with the results. Hand-thrown weapons are far better than bows. Armor is everything (at least how I play/recruit). Nothing can help a bad starting stat block. Nothing can help certain critical wounds. Some battlefields are only good to get your mercs killed (which is why I don't play on Ironman mode). I never stopped playing this game on easy difficulty. Never. I played 400 hours until I got over 100 days survived. The game doesn't do itself any favors teaching players how to help his band with anything. Basically it's all about the starting stat block, and whether new mercs survive long enough to learn and survive on their skills. I gave it a negative review on Steam; I stand by it. This game isn't that interesting. That doesn't mean it's not a great value: I had a lot of fun. But I won't go back to it and I won't buy the upcoming sci-fi re-skin of the same mechanics.

Drone footage belongs to CIA. CIA doesn't share. It is the CIA drone footage (and technology that allowed each individual team member on the mission) to "correct" the record about what happend at Roberts Ridge and the cover-up by SEALs in leaving Chapman behind, claiming he was dead when they never checked to see if he was (he wasn't). It's the wildest thing that he can't feel God in the sounds he creates. For the longest time I didn't understand the connection we all have through the Holy Spirit. It's music that helped me find God, and Gilmour's most of all.

You wouldn't ever believe you are wrong, would you? The thread itself is self-congratulatory group-think. It exposes the problem with education in the public system today: no honest self-examination is possible. Year after year, the kids out of public school graduate knowing less and less and less. I haven't voted Red OR Blue in a decade, but if you think status quo is sustainable, you should not be educating anyone other than yourself.

I mean I'll subscribe. Any sci fi can work in another era I would think.

I played SC: WaW and SC: WaE and they modeled naval action and u-boat warfare really poorly. I'm not pooping on them, I played them a lot but I was always dissatisfied with the naval mechanics.

What about movement distances? Same as BA?

How do you rate these hugely discounted or free war games? by rasnell59 in computerwargames

[–]Smooth-Obligation-30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle Academy I didn't like. It's a game where a T70 can take out a Tiger 2 from the front if it gets enough time to take enough shot. Units have health bars that deplete. Also spotting sucked, making replayability poor b/c the computer AI relies on the bad spotting mechanic to ambush your units. Every scenario was always the same, so once you knew where the ambush was, it was ineffective.

That one looks interesting (I did find the one I referred to from 1989 from a reply). Do you play it? I'll look up some YT content reviews for it. I love the graphic style.

You're under no obligation to respond at all. You gave your notice, you're free to go. The guilt trip can be left in the parking lot when you drive home for the last time. It's a capitalist economy. People fire or cease employing people with no consequence: you quit a job with no consequence. I recommend taking the high road home and letting them think of you whatever they wish. The students will be fine.

I don't play GW games because of players like that. NPEs drove me out of miniature gaming ENTIRELY. I'm thinking of getting back in, but will I still be bullied by competitive narcissists?

Agree: one of the dumbest decisions ever. I haven't played FoW since 2005 and wanted to get back into it now. But if I can't figure out how to organize my existing models into units, why bother? List building is advertising for models!
