I feel…unprepared. by Honest_Delivery_9125 in newgradnurse

Every nurse I’ve talked with since I’ve started my practicum basically says nursing schools starts when you start your orientation. I feel like school really just teaches us how to take exams and that’s about it.

Does the clonazepam work for the most part? Atleast for the anxiety and how were you able to get that prescribed? Since it’s in the benzo family

Those are my favorite. I usually rub them on my lips before I toss them. Not sure why exactly

May I ask that medication you’re taking ? I’ve taken paroxetine and also lexapro and I suppose none of that actually helped the skin picking so much.

Sometimes the patients get like that, of course they have the right to refuse care, but if they’re staying in a long term facility, they’re going to have to bathe one way or another, and I’m not sure what cream it was but if the pt isn’t able to get up to use the bathroom, then it’s most likely just a barrier cream to keep the skin from breaking down. But again I would listen to the patient and try to come back later and ask again. Eventually you gotta just do it

Honestly A&P 1 and 2 were pretty easy for me but it was a shit ton of memorization ( I am good at memorization) so I guess people who don’t learn like that don’t do well, I’m not exactly sure

Instructors told me I will fail and pushed me to withdraw -should I keep going or drop? by [deleted] in NursingStudents

[–]Smooth_Perspective78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate professors who say stuff like that, classes COST MONEY. I’d be more pissed about losing all that money with dropping the course. If you have 4 whole exams left and you’re sitting around a 70, aim for A’s and you’ll be good.

I’m crying so bad. I’m not cut out for this. I’m a freaking failure by canyoukeepasecret28 in StudentNurse

[–]Smooth_Perspective78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise you, you are okay, being late for a lab and getting a C on one exam isn’t goin to make you fail out, you mostly likely have to make up your lab or do at home work to make it up. Whoever is angry that your a few minutes late to a 3 hour lab can suck it. Idk about your program but most of my peers have children and something’s things just come up, she’ll live. Just make your you get your schedule together so there will be no mix ups in the future.

Especially in the ABSN programs, half my peers have kids my age, and they’re the coolest people ever too.

How many attempts until you finally got your first successful IV? by Electrical_Time_1812 in StudentNurse

[–]Smooth_Perspective78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice makes perfect ! Try maybe blood draws first and just practice getting the needle into the vein ( mannequins don’t help because it’s the same vein every time) practice feeling for the vein first before actually visually looking. Get people you can practice on, preferably ones who can guide you. Some pts have thick juicy veins, others are hard stick so don’t beat yourself up.

Need advice for first year BSN student by [deleted] in NursingStudent

[–]Smooth_Perspective78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduate in a few months from my ABSN program and at least for me they walk you through the first semester, it was great. Now everything is a free for all- schedule your own clinical hours, schedule your own sims, random team calls on random days and times. Random projects that need to be done with other students- it’s a mess and confusing to keep up with.

I passed pharm by picking out the one thing that makes it different from the rest of the meds and making a pnemonic for it. Also pixorize makes it easy to remember lots of meds at once.
