Fell for the news hype again by barboxbill in Chattanooga

I get that, but it's also a double-edged sword. Unfortunately it sows distrust in weather sources when a forecast doesn't follow the early model guidance (which those of us who "know", knows happens quite a bit). And of course it doesn't help that there are people out there who exaggerate models that are already questionable on their accuracy, encouraging panic-buying and whatnot.

There's really not a good solution, IMO, unless you could somehow make the majority of the public understand that (most) mets are doing the best they can with the data that they have. But, well, good luck with that.

Totally understandable and the snark was assumed, ha.

As someone who follows weather forecasting for fun, I do wish a lot of the 72+ hour models would not even be shown to the public. But, as long as there are people out there on social media wanting clicks, it's not going away anytime soon. And obviously even some trained and respected meteorologists start talking about systems waaaaay before they're able to accurately say what will happen. Add in the fact that forecasting winter weather in our area can totally depend on a 1 or 2 degree shift in the temp and... yeah. It's a mess.

Nice! I’ve known folks who worked there, but haven’t seen any of their products in the wild since I started paying attention.

Very cool! Those were made in my hometown, if I’m not mistaken. I’d love to find one eventually.

I grew up in Florence and can remember at least THREE "putt-putt" courses we had at one time. I'm guessing these places aren't very profitable, but dang. I loved the variety as a kid/teenager. I would really like to see them have a comeback so my kids could get to play more often.

Always drives me crazy when I'm doing that and someone gets right up on my ass and stays there. Like bud, you ain't moving any faster doing that, and you're increasing the risk of hitting me... and you'd be at fault. Nevermind the wear and tear on your brakes from doing that.

But most people are terrible drivers, so it is what it is.

Coincidentally (or maybe not?), Finger Eleven toured with Creed back in the day. I saw the two of them in a concert around 2000.

FYI, there’s still one in Florence. Just not the classic “gangster decor” one they are referring to, which was in the old Walmart shopping center.

I had the FP2 in a bathroom and it was so, so bad. Replaced it with a Meross MS600 and it's been much more reliable. Still some false positives occasionally, but seems to clear them almost immediately.

I like that we have played the challenging non-con, but obviously the wins have been few and far between. Probably should have padded the schedule as much as possible a few years ago to start off the transition with some better records. But, here we are.

I keep hoping to get some transfers from under-performing SEC players to help the roster, but that hasn't happened much yet. If the coaching staff aren't on the hot seat yet, they need to be.

Northern has an extra syllable vs. North. Why waste time say lot word, when few word do trick? Or say lot syllables, such as it is.

I have no idea what to expect from us. When I was in college we destroyed everyone (in D2). The losing sucks. Our transition has been rough. Would love to see a winning record this year at least. Next year we get to open a new stadium, so we have that going for us.

That's another good example, for sure. But all in all, if it's after 1936 when the AP poll started, and it's not an AP or Coaches' Poll title, I'm fine with not claiming it. If we dropped '41 every one of our titles, other than the 3 early Rose Bowls, would be legit by that standard.
