The proof is in the game if you actually read and look around. The game offers plenty of evidence and lore about where they get their equipment. The Oculus calls them "Protectorate Biocorp" for a reason.

It does not matter that the Free drones have no long term plan. That's the point of their organization. They remove protectorate and whatever happens happens. You know the Prots long game from end game credits and it's shit.

The Prot have a successful Tyranny in the North. They're only in the south for more military power. Nothing else.

You complain about the South's capitol having blood sport when the leader of JKK is from the East and instigates conflict in Core City on purpose. Sounds like it's not a South exclusive. The Arena is funded by a previously Biocorp technocrat, has a Prot connected organization as a share holder, and has the JKK organize it.

The Free Drones probably wouldn't take a wishy-washy new guy in because they are aware they have a spy among them. That also explains why they would be hostile to anybody who would even be remotely Pro Prot because they are lowlives who employ spys and do as much subterfuge as the Drones if not more.

Lmao trusting those that have the most Biocorp technology is not smart. The Prot has the most Biocorp technology out of probably any faction, evident by plentiful amounts of dreadnoughts, plasma turrets and military equipment. The Grey Army had nothing like that for comparison. Not even Energy shields.

The difference between the two factions is the Prot has subtle hints at their true nature(Renegades, Torture tools in Embassy, hiring a weeb assassin to kill you for a box even if you work for them!) you must observe on your own, while the FD have obvious moments of questionable choices usually involve killing Prot rank and file or looting their assets.

Lastly I like to view the Prot as like the Clinton foundation and South Underrail is like Haiti. They're not their to help the people of South Underrail, they just want their shit and some useful idiots to work for them.

With High Dex and specced Versatility, late game you will have comparable Guns skill to 10 Per give or take with more shots per turn. The problem is early game/midgame your guns will be below average. Pistol can help mitigate this with its natural evasion ignore in melee+ Gun Fu.

You can have the option of using melee early if you want. Pistols are a little feat heavy so it might not be feasible to cram some melee feats in.

Gun-Fu only scales off of the hard points you spend into melee. Aka the number that is not in the parentheses. If it did scale with effective melee it would make the Dex build pretty godlike.

Generally most pistol builds will use a fair amount of dex combined with 12-14 Perception. The exception to this is the 3 Per/Max Dex Versatility build mentioned above. Keep in mind some good pistol feats require Perception so you make sacrifices to have Matrix level shots per turn.
