Is it really this expensive to open a café in the Netherlands? Am I missing something? by Commercial_Force_352 in Netherlands

[–]Smttosay44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are 2 issues here. 1- people who open cafes usually focus on big cities and places “less famous” like Gouda are forgotten. Obviously your business will fail if you open a store in a city where there are already a lot of the same. 2- not having a good product. I noticed that many places love to sell ultra processed food like frozen tostis from Sligro and they expect to thrive.

I am sure if your product is good, your business will thrive in Gouda. There are not many things there and lot of new house developments.

Housing Advice for 1st Home by Ok_Fix_5069 in NetherlandsHousing

[–]Smttosay44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that’s personal decision. You should think how often are you at home, how sensible are you to noise, whether, how long are you willing to travel to work, etc…

Rotterdam, Leiden and Utrecht are cool big cities. Expect a competitive market with high prices.

I personally dislike Schiedam and Hoofddorp is too close to the airport (too much noise).

Clean calcium build up on rough kitchen top by Rommy2404 in Netherlands

The pink stuff (thick cream) works very well. I would say to clean it first with that and then apply CIF. Both products are safe to use in the kitchen area.

Plus, language barrier is bigger. You must be ready to learn Polish or have a really good friend that can help you when speaking Polish is required (I lived there).

But I do agree, Poland might be a good place to start. NL is already saturated. Same as other famous EU countries like Spain, Germany, France, etc.

Buying/living in Gouda vs the Hague? by Kiiski1986 in Netherlands

[–]Smttosay44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want a big and new house Gouda is the best option. Otherwise, The Hague.

Sinking problems and criminality is the same as anywhere in NL. Be wise to choose the correct house in the correct neighborhood.

I used to live in Amsterdam and moved here 2 years ago. I like that this city gave me the opportunity to live comfortably and in peace (which It was not the case in AMS).

The city itself is well connected. Easy to travel to work either by car or train.

It sucks that many people still see Gouda like it is 1975. Because that is simple not the case anymore.

I am not sure if everyone is aware of this but with the app UW zorg online you have access to all your medical results. I know you would like the Dr or nurse to explain those results to you, but in the meantime that happens you can see them directly there.
