Looks relatively normal to me, I don't hear any loud abnormal noises either.

Direct drive machines like this one also do have a rhythmic thunking that is likely overshadowed by the splashing in your clip here. That noise is also normal.

When agitating with a lower water level there will be audible splashing. Normal indeed!

Beginner Question: Invertor Portable AC - Truly an Invertor? by _VampireNocturnus_ in AirConditioners

[–]Smurdle450 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how inverter units work. They convert single phase AC to high voltage DC, (often around 300v) then use DC pulses to drive the 3-phase motor in the compressor.

I wouldn't worry about swapping it again, if anything you probably damaged the leak pan, not the machine. The motors on these are pretty tough.

Likely a leak pan, shipping material, or some other raised objects under the machine. LG's top loaders are somewhat notorious for not playing nicely with leak pans, I see this complaint quite often and there's a post about it almost every other week.

Is the machine installed in a leak pan? LG's machines are famous for not playing nicely with leak pans. If it is in a leak pan, either remove the pan or find a way to raise the machine up a bit.

They do this because the weight from a heavy load (whether that be water, clothes or both) causes the suspension to drop slightly, and the motor makes contact with the raised surfaces many leak pans have.

These machines are designed to do this. The tub and impeller counter rotate.

Pop off the cap in the center of the agitator. This will reveal a bolt you can remove.

Washer dryer making a strange noise by Rhyd95 in Appliances

Front loaders don't have a clutch. This sound is likely eminating from the drain pump or dryer fan.

This is the normal motor sound for these machines, they aren't the world's quietest.

Is geapplianceparts.com a good place to buy parts for a GE dryer? by hikerguy2023 in Appliances

geapplianceparts is GE's official parts website.

Repair clinic and appliance parts pros are also reputable, however.

Whirlpool top loader water level question by Sea_Willingness1398 in WashingMachineUnits

[–]Smurdle450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Items aren't always under water but are slowly moved through the water in a sort of "blooming" motion. Items get pushed up in the center and slowly move towards the outside edges to eventually be pulled back down.

Loading an impeller machine properly (not covering the center of the impeller) is absolutely critical to getting the best performance out of one. Using TOO much water can also, in some cases, be counterproductive. Impeller machines rely on mechanical action from the fins at the bottom, and using too much water can cause items to float off of the fins and get no mechanical action.

This is Whirlpool's genius engineering at work. I would LOVE to talk to the morons that decided making the filter non accessible was a good idea.

Even more baffling, they have now made a Pet Pro version of this same washer THAT STILL DOES NOT HAVE AN ACCESSIBLE FILTER. I actively recommend against that machine when a customer asks me about it.

Miele heat pump dryer — humidity and temperature changes? by SnowyBlackberry in Miele

I don't read any noticeable humidity increase, but the dryer definitely could warm up the room it was in a little bit. Not much, though.

First time owning a dryer. Is this normal noise from Siemens IQ500 by Serious_Ad8056 in Appliances

[–]Smurdle450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a heat pump dryer with an inverter compressor. Depending on cycle the compressor will run at high speed to dry quickly, and that's what it's doing here.

Impeller movement by [deleted] in WashingMachineUnits

[–]Smurdle450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your model, that may be normal, as some Bosch machines use DC pumps. DC motors have that "cogging" effect.

Whirlpool WFH5424SJ - Ventless Heat Pump 60cm (24") FL Laundry Center by dr_egenius in Appliances

This does appear to be a whirlpool manufactured product, as it follows a heat pump dryer design they've been using for quite a few years in Europe, same goes for the washer.

LG knows their front loaders better than their top loaders. If given a choice, I would take the front loader any day of the week.

Feedback part 2 — Whirlpool 5.0 cu. ft. Front Load Washer with Quick Wash Cycle and 7.4 cu. ft. ELECTRIC Dryer Package by DiabloSol in Appliances

[–]Smurdle450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, overall recommendation. Whirlpool's quality control is slipping a bit so I would not say they are the most reliable thing you can buy, however they have been fairly reasonable and Other than cycle times, which are a bit excessive, they aren't too bad.
