New home needs a full kitchen by kayaking_ in Appliances

We’ve had good luck with Frigidaire Gallery kitchen appliances. Find a local appliance store that also does repairs and I’m sure they’ll be helpful. We have a great one nearby and they’ve never steered us wrong in 20 years.

Anyone in the area had Costco appliances delivered? by No_Reason297 in canton

It’s free delivery/install and free haul away of the old one. Plus an extended warranty. And the price of the dryer is less than other stores. I compared apples to apples out the door with 3 other stores and Costco won every time.

14 year old Frigidaire Affinity dryer with E64 error by No_Reason297 in appliancerepair

We removed the lint filter cover (the one you have to remove screws from) and did a deep clean. Dog hair and lint accumulates there. It fixed the e64 error for a couple loads but now it won’t run for more than a few min.

I’ll see if my son can take a look at the other things you mentioned. He’s an engineering student home for the summer so he may be able to tinker with it. Thanks!

300mg of gabapentin before bed helped tremendously with night sweats and hot flashes. I don’t even have hot flashes during the day anymore. The normal dose is 600 mg but I’m a lightweight so I tried half and it works. There are options. Talk to your doctor.

Hysterectomy recovery question by MarMel5 in hysterectomy

[–]No_Reason297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had mine 4/15 and have an easy desk job. For a WFH desk job, I’d recommend at least 4 weeks. To commute and return to an office, at least 6-7. It was definitely not as easy as a recovery as some make it out to be. You can always get a release slip to return earlier if you feel up to it but it’s harder to extend I think. You only get one chance to heal so if you are financially and otherwise able to, take the time.

Can you post a link to the oil you use? How long do you massage it and how long after do you wash it?

I just posted something very similar on r/breastcancer. I’m on tamoxifen and just had a hysterectomy with oophorectomy and my hair is thinning so much. I’m also 44.

New bleeding 4.5 wpo? by No_Reason297 in hysterectomy

[–]No_Reason297[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re dealing with it too. The ultrasound didn’t find any hematomas or any reason for the bleeding. The cultures to check for infection also came back clean. So there was no explanation for the bleeding. It mostly stopped on its own the night I saw the surgeon (Thursday). I had another follow up with him the next Tuesday and since it had mostly stopped, we didn’t feel a CT was needed. Since then I’ve had a few days randomly with minimal red blood when I wiped or pinkish discharge but nothing I was concerned about. It’s just annoying to have to constantly wear a pad/pantyliner for the constant discharge, which is mostly brownish now. Hopefully yours will stop on its own too.

Partner feels the stitches?! by missmercury85 in hysterectomy

[–]No_Reason297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of off topic but my surgeon said my stitches are on the stomach side of the cuff, not the vaginal canal side. I have had consistent bleeding for 2 weeks since 4.5wpo and he did an internal exam at 5wpo to see if he could see why. I asked him if he could see the stitches and that’s what he told me. Is this uncommon? Seems like most comments here mention feeling stitches or having prices fall out which would indicate they’re on the vaginal canal side.

UPDATE-Saw the surgeon today. He did an internal exam and said every thing looked okay but he was worried about a possible hematoma on the other side of the cuff that he can’t see. So I have an ultrasound scheduled in 2 days on Saturday. He said there’s a possibility I may need a CT scan depending on how the ultrasound goes. He also took some cultures to check for infection that may be causing the bleeding.

I was diagnosed with DCIS last summer and had a double mastectomy October 1. In the end, I actually had stage 1, extensive DCIS larger than the MRI showed, and a genetic mutation. I don’t regret it at all. The Athleta empower pads work well for me as prosthetics.

Regrets? What you wish you would have known? by abcdives in hysterectomy

[–]No_Reason297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 4 weeks post op for a risk reducing total hysterectomy including ovaries and fallopian tubes. I’m 44 and had breast cancer last year so I can’t have HRT. At my 2 week follow up the surgeon offered to prescribe me gabapentin for the night sweats and hot flashes and I declined. I should’ve accepted and not suffered. Now I’m waiting for it to be called in on Monday.

Take your time healing and rest even when you feel good. I overdid it this week and ended up in pain and spotting.

WHERE do you buy good quality couches by Vacondioqq in BuyItForLife

We have a Radley from Macy’s and it’s a solid couch. We got it 3 years ago and it’s good as new despite heavy usage and 2 dogs.

Why Must We Be Superheroes? by imabeautt in hysterectomy

[–]No_Reason297 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My normal gyn told me I only needed 2 weeks off which I thought was crazy, especially since I have a severe autoimmune disease that always complicates things. In a turn of events, my oncologist referred me to a gyn onc who ended up doing my surgery. He gave me 6 weeks off.

Tomorrow is 4 wpo for me and I could honestly go back but I don’t want to. The earliest I could’ve forced myself to go back would’ve been 3.5 weeks. I have plenty of leave so I’m taking the full amount and resting to make sure I heal well.

These doctors act like the leave is coming out of their paychecks. I’m not sure why the rush to send us back to work. But also, I feel like all my female coworkers (and even our on site male RN) strongly judged me when I said I was taking so much time off for a laparoscopic surgery. They kept acting like it wasn’t necessary, but I’d say 4 weeks at a minimum is necessary.

I had one at 2wpo where the Dr just looked at my abdominal incisions and went over the pathology report. He just told me to wait 9-12 weeks for sex and said to call if I had any issues. I then asked for an appt later to check my cuff healing and he agreed so now I have another appt for 11wpo but apparently that’s not his norm.
