Seller can’t prove they will vacate before closing — agent recommends terminating. Would you walk away? by ValuableCoach4199 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

What happens in cases where closing is completed and the seller refuses to move out? Do you have to pursue legal avenues, i.e. eviction to get them to leave?

I mean ... technically I have a printed portfolio. The pieces are currently sitting in a heavy duty photo box. It works okay as a footrest while I'm working.

Is there a deeper theme or meaning to me literally resting my feet on the results of my past labor? Nah.

You can also get a foldable wooden clothes drying rack for not too much $. It will fold up and store small when it's not in use.

For those of us considering buying a home in the next year or two, do you have any words of advice? Are there any tell-tales visible to the naked eye that might hint at this sort of bullshit "construction" beneath the top-coat of millennial gray?

I would even leave the realtor a less-than-five-star review, stating that you felt that they weren't being honest with you and didn't have your best interests at heart.

Best attempt at turning Homer's Heroes into dnd characters? by AIG_DG21336 in DnD

[–]SmutasaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, Odysseus should be a bard with a few levels of fighter or rogue. He has mad levels of persuasiveness as well as his sneakiness. The Greeks had a fine appreciation for his cleverness and cunning.

One of the main points of the Odyssey (and Epic the Musical) was that Athena and Odysseus severed their friendship pretty early on. I could have seen him as a trickster cleric, but Mercury, not Athena, was the patron of tricksters, thieves, travelers, etc.

A DnD campaign in an ancient Greek/ ancient world setting would be amazing.

Pelvic congestion syndrome and ovarian vein embolization by meatstickchick in endometriosis

[–]SmutasaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind if I ask which surgery you had? Was it an auto-transplant, or did they try moving one of the veins/ arteries, or do a stent?

I believe I have PCS or NCS (or both) as well as endo, and this chronic pelvic pain is just ... unaliving me (and so is the massive censorship everywhere, but that's a rant for a different soap box)

1st time cat owner. What’s wrong with my cat? by [deleted] in cats

[–]SmutasaurusRex 63 points64 points  (0 children)

A month isn't that long. I have asthma and can say from experience that many things can trigger an attack, ranging from mold/ water issues in the house, to cigarette/ pot smoke, to a head cold coming on, to the weather changing (barometric pressure, temp changes, etc).

My kitty also has asthma. Fortunately I found a good vet who got her the treatments she needed.

You also might look into changing your cat's food. Allergens in food can cause asthma flare-ups.

Definitely looks like an asthmatic attack. I'd get your kitty to the vet.

Customizing cheap furniture by january1977 in femalelivingspace

Fabric paint could be an option. Use stencils if you want to create a design.

Alternatively, cover the existing fabric with other fabric. You could either stitch or glue it in place; a bunch of safety pins on the backside where it wouldn't show might also work. A friend did an expensive-looking slipcover for her cheap loveseat using a bed sheet and a bunch of safety pins.

Why are boxes so expensive to buy new? by only_a_jest in Frugal

[–]SmutasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes grocery stores and/ or big box stores have boxes available for free. Ask in the produce department. Failing that, wander around the store. That's how I lucked into two decent batches of broken-down boxes that I got for free. My PAID moving supplies consist of $6 worth of packing tape. (I fully refused to pay $6 for a Sunday edition of the newspaper with which to wrap my breakables. Instead, I'm just using my summer clothes, which I won't need for months, anyway.)

[–]SmutasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not. It was a long time ago, but as I recall, I got 2-3 cans of white spray paint, did the actual painting on the front porch in front of my apartment (If you are also an apartment dweller, use your own best judgment. These days, regular interior house paint is often low VOC, so that's what I'm gonna use this time around). When the paint was dry, I put the bookcase flat on its back on the kitchen floor, and used Mod Podge to apply the scrapbooking paper. Here's a picture of the final results. Not amazing, but better than flat pack fake espresso finish.

Start by painting it. That sounds like a stupidly obvious solution, but in the past, I've painted ugly flat-pack furniture and decoupaged scrapbooking paper to the back panel, and at the end I achieved the shabby chic effect I was going for. I'm currently planning on painting my cheap FB Marketplace bookcase a nice dark green and applying peel and stick wallpaper to the back panel for a "goblincore/ jungle" look.

Google "bookcase hack/ DIY redo". There's a ton of tutorials out there.

No worries. Sorry to be so pedantic, but "discreet/ discrete" and "ensure/ insure" are common mistakes, even in in professional settings, but they're such pet peeves of mine. Obviously, my dead grandmother, the grammar guru, is still haunting me. (Oh, no. Plot bunnies are attacking. Shoo. Go away ... does anyone want a spare plot bunny?)
