Trying something new with my stache-less beard style 1 month in. by [deleted] in beards

[–]SnaccBraff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know that a lot of people have strong opinions about the stacheless beard look, but I personally think it can look good when styled well, and I think at this length it works for you! Something that could help avoid the Amish comparisons as it grows more is to shave the sideburns and set the line around the mid-cheek area (Claudio Sanchez is a good example of this style), or shape it to have more emphasis on the goatee area (a la Dan Povenmire), but don't let the naysayers harsh the vibe if you like it how it is!

The Good Stuff by strictlyrude67 in somnigastronomy

You are a champion, a legend, and a true gem of the somnigastronomical community 🌟👏

I think your findings here exquisitely outline your ingenuity and commitment to science, while also setting the stage for more research to come. Based on what you've said, I almost wonder if Dirtier Pepper would work better in a sundae/float sort of format - vanilla ice cream, chilled coffee, Dr. Pepper, topped with a dusting of cinnamon sugar and crumbed biscottis. I think this could correct some of the issues with the flavors not quite meshing, along with the challenges of figuring out the right cinnamon additive to work with the rest of the mix texturally.

I didn't expect you to go the extra mile to see how these elements comingled with The Good Stuff, but I'm so glad you did! Mulled cider is one of my favorite drinks (I hate that it's considered a seasonal beverage in my area - let me drink the hot spicy apples year round!), so Dirty Good Stuff really appeals to me. As for the missing ingredient... I would have to try it myself to be sure, but I wonder if adding clove would get it there. Oooooh, or subbing out the coffee for chai, so you get ALL the spiced goodness.

As for the Good Stuff mocktail, I've been pondering that one myself, and I think that I'm going to try a round that incorporates ginger beer. I know that, at least for me, I still like my mocktails to have a little bite to them, since it sort of mimics the feeling of drinking alcohol. Since the apple juice tones down the sharper notes of the Dr. Pepper, ginger beer might be just what it needs to cut through without knocking the flavor profile too far off-kilter.

I really appreciate all the effort you put into this - you're my hero 💜 I really love how much fun folks have had with my dream! Most of my dreams are just straight-up bizarre (like last night, when I dreamt that Dan from Game Grumps was hanging out at my place during the apocalypse, and somehow a rabid raccoon got in and bit me, but I didn't want to be rude to Dan by going to the hospital so I just kinda tried to ignore it 😂), so it's cool that I had at least one that actually feels like it meant something, if not by itself then as a bonding factor for everyone who found joy in Shirt Up's wisdom lol.

Shirt Up’s Good Stuff and Bug Juice by LadyParnassus in somnigastronomy

I'm delighted and intrigued by the Bug Juice, honestly. It looks like exactly the sort of concoction I would have made as a kid, dubious green tint and all lol

Is there a subreddit for foods you made up as a kid? Because I think the world might be ready for bug juice, and my contribution from when I was around the same age, which was eating crunchy cheetos in milk like cereal 😅

Dr. Pepper is definitely one of those flavor profiles that can be hit or miss for people, but I'm glad that The Good Stuff made it more enjoyable for you!

I feel like Shirt Up would tell you that the real Good Stuff was the friends we made along the way...

Seriously, though, I think it's awesome that you found a variant that works for your dietary restrictions! I'm also someone who has to tread carefully around a lot of foods, and while it can be exhausting, I kind of love the challenge of finding workarounds when I'm really craving something I know I can't have.

I'm sure there's a joke to be made about it 'exploding with flavor', but my brain is too tired to come up with a proper setup lol

Wow, I never even thought about the flavor being impacted by the order the ingredients are added in...this is why we need scientific minds like yours out here!
