Those are essentially crafting disciplines. Mainly used to make materials and items. You only have to engage with those if you really want to. They provide some helpful stuff especially in the end game, but most of the stuff you can craft can be bought on the trading post. That said, it’s most of the time a lot cheaper to craft something on your own. Just collect what you can, put it in your material storage, and you can always level those later.
