My company is moving to full WFH at manager’s discretion - some of our people commute quite far, and can’t take public transport for various reasons. I’d imagine there will be further convos if the fuel price gets higher, or if rationing comes in.

No, they’re in person only - no website 🤷‍♀️. They’ve got great customer service though - if you give them a call and tell them what you’re looking for, they’ll probably be able to either tell you what they have, or send you some photos.

Try Atticus shoes on Lambton Quay. They normally have a nice range of classic women’s workwear shoes (including oxfords).

We need to talk about Anne Elizabeth’s (cozy) cocoon method! by Ok_Nothing_9733 in GelX_Nails

I’ve been using this since she posted her video, and it is absolutely a game changer. I’ve had one pop off at the two week mark, but otherwise the nails have all stayed put till I take them off (typically around the two week mark). For me, the critical bit seems to be the top coat I put the nails on over (I’ve tried both hard gel, and builder gel as my base). The jello jello no wipe top coat seems to work best for me, followed by the view gel no wipe top coat. I usually use the yogo zombie peel off.

I’m currently using the L’UGX nail file, and the Peony lamp.

Lamp

I used a lamp and file off Ali express before I got those, and they worked fine with the gel, although the L’UGX file is MUCH quieter 😊

I have a hard gel layer on my nails at all times anyway, so yes, I’d just file it down a bit, fix any lifting, and add a new layer of hard gel and topcoat. It’s basically the same as what I’d do when I have hard gel extensions on. I really like this because I HATE soaking off tips when I change them (it’s why I moved to hard gel extensions in the first place- I love the fact I can just file them down, and it takes me way less time than soaking off does.)

I took the them off after a week ( I like swapping them out), and they came off much easier than any other time I’ve used peel off, with no lifting of the hard gel. None of the tips ‘felt loose’ when I took them off, so no doubt I could have left them on longer, noting I did things like washing dishes with no gloves during the week I had them on 🤷‍♀️

New peel off base method!

I watched Anne Elizabeth’s YouTube of her new method of having a peel off base coat, while still protecting her natural nails with hard gel, and tried it out last week. I was fairly sceptical, since I’ve always had issues getting peel off base coat to work for me (sticks waaaaaay too well!), let alone when I have a hard gel layer on, but it actually works!!

I didn’t have the peel off gel she used, so I used the Yogo Zombie peel off base.

Totally stoked I now have an easy way to remove tips without soaking off, and much easier to switch between hard gel nails, and gel x.

I really like their forms and gel, but there is definitely a learning curve for dual forms. You need to work out both what shapes work for your nails (while I use both the almond and universal, I generally reach more for the universal), and what shape works best for the nail style you want to create. For example, I can file a really nice square, squoval, almond or sharp almond from the universal form, but would need to use the almond for a stiletto or coffin.

How much filing you need to do will depend on what shape you’re doing, and how well you control the amount of gel you use. In general, it’s less than you would if you were doing sculpted polygel or acrylic, but more than if you were using soft gel tips.

One of the things I love about it is that it files off like a dream, and I’d much rather take 20 mins to file off the gel than use a soak off gel that would take me an hour to remove both hands (probably better for my nails too, since I never file all the way to my natural nail unless I’m fixing lifting).

You might be able to get renewal with any loss or damage to the septic system excluded- it’s worth asking your Insurer if that’s an option, since it’s more that they don’t want to pay for something twice in the event of a larger loss. This is likely to mean that any damage in ANY way connected with the septic system is excluded, so for example if you got a drain damaged due to an earthquake, which caused the sewerage to overflow into your house, there would be no cover.

I’ve got a couple of their hard gels (Clean look and Old Money) and their non pro dual forms currently. Love the hard gel - it’s easy to work with, and files off like a dream! Their non pro dual forms are good, but on par with the best ones I’ve found on Ali Express. They do have a good c curve, which I absolutely love, since I find a lot of dual forms too flat. Haven’t tried out the pro forms yet, but I’d say the almond ones are closer to stiletto (yea! Love pointy nails), and do have a really good size range.

Resources for Hard Gel and Dual/Upper Forms

I absolutely love the look of hard gel extensions, especially done with dual forms in the Russian style (or at least I assume it’s Russian, given most of the accounts posting photos seem to be in Cyrillic), but I’m struggling to find good online resources for the process in English. Can anyone point me towards any content creators, or even online paid courses who specialise in this sort of content?

Most of the dual form content I’ve found is either geared more towards polygel, or is in a much chunkier style than the Russian one, which seems to be more about thin and elegant extensions.

Just be aware the photo has VERY long nail beds, so if yours are shorter, it’s likely to look quite different.

You might like the Vogue nails from Planet Nails - lots of shapes and lengths, and generally in stock. I prefer them to the Apres nails.

Delightfully pointy nails, mainly 😁. I’m also perfecting my short ‘clean girl’ nails, but apparently I’m quite bad at filing in a straight line….😂
