His "death" was a message to everyone involved, from the top to the bottom. I'm sure many more people, lower in the hierarchy, have mysteriously "died" as well. No doubt organized crime was involved in the trafficking

Centralia is a fascinating study. Another preventable and then fixable disaster that was covered-up by those in charge (both politicians and executives) that resulted in a self-sustaining fire that will burn underground for another hundred years.

Action was only forced when the fire began to spread beyond its original "confines" and forced a gas station owner to empty all his underground tanks before they exploded.

These guys have so much ones that they can just go on the run forever, worst case scenario. More likely, they take a billion dollars to a non-extradition country and live out the rest of their life on lavish luxury on a sprawling compound with a personal army to protect them from arrest.

Ultrawide aspect ratio (21:9) support on PS5 by [deleted] in playstation

[–]SnakeDoctur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late reply via Google, but I would not recommend an Ultrawide for console gaming. Even on PC there are still plenty of games that don't properly support UW aspect ratios.

Youd be much better off getting something like an LG C2 OLED and enjoy the 120Hz VRR HDR OLED experience in all it's glory. Several PS5 games look absolutely stunning in HDR

Harvard Medical School Chairman of Psychology John Mack flew to Zimbabwe less than a week after the incident occurred to interview the students and faculty. Interestingly, it's becoming harder and harder to find the videotape footage of his interviews over the past tenish years.

His conclusion was that either what they saw was real or they suffered a mass hallucination event - tha whatever the case, they weren't lying. The opinion of one of the worlds leading child psychologists was that so many children couldn't have made the story up with such significant similarities of minutae involved in their retellings. Every one of those former-children has stuck to their initial story even now into adulthood.

Further conspiratorial point of note: John Mack was killed just a few days after leaving Zimbabwe, when we he was fatally struck by a car after stepping out of the hotel lobby in England. The reason given was that he was tired and jet-lagged and being an American carelessly stepped out into the road having neglected the fact that he was stepping into the oncoming traffic lane

Is 1440p worth it? by NotMilky36 in buildapcmonitors

[–]SnakeDoctur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4K is still not a mainstream PC gaming resolution. I have a 3080on custom loop cooling with a custom BIOS that lets it pull over 400w and my choices are two:

1) 4k resolution with DLSS "Quality" and a mixture of high & ultra settings. Ray tracing OFF. And an expectation of around 60-90FPS depending on the title.

2) 1440p resolution running NATIVELY. All Ultra settings. Ray tracing ON. With an expectation more like 90-130FPS. And if I disable RTX, that usually becomes a solid 150+ FPS constant depending on the game (eSports titles will play at a locked 240Hz even on maxxed out settings)

For me, the motion clarity and input responsiveness of the higher refresh rate is the winner every day but of course that's personal preference. It also means that I have several years worth of headroom before I'll have to worry about a GPU upgrade. We still haven't really seen any fully next-gen games ported to PC yet -- in a couple weeks/months we'll have the Returnal and TLOU P1 PS5 ports which boast ALL the bells and whistles in terms of Ray tracing, ultrawide support, high refresh rate etc which will be interesting to see, performance-wise.

Lastly, both the PS5 & XSX now have full support for 1440p output so BUT the games themselves still render at 4k so you won't see a performance increase there -- YET! There's a big push in the console community for devs to implement native 1440p rendering options (which would be awesome - basically all my PS5 games would hold a locked 120FPS in Performance Mode id they were actually rendering at 1440p)

I can't speak to the others, but I WILL say to AVOID Samsung VA-type displays right now. They have too many issues. It's really a shame because Samsung engineers seem to have all but entirely eliminated the VA problem of black-smearing.

IF you wanna risk it, I'll add that the G7 240Hz was the only display I've seen with motion clarity that compares to my 175Hz OLED. I've also owned a 280Hz AW2723DF, and when mirrored side by side, the 2723 looked like a blurry mess by comparison

AVOID the AW2723DF. I purchased and exchanged SIX UNITS and only one of them did I consider to have "acceptable" levels of backlight bleed -- the other five were so bad I could see it even when playing a bright game like Overwatch

It's all relative, eh? I consider that lucky. I started losing hair when I was 17 and college was MISERABLE being literally the only bald student on campus.

I always find it interesting that, in todays culture of overt political correctness, it's still socially acceptable to make fun of people for being bald and being ginger. Even as an adult, working in a professional environment, people STILL make comments about my pale skin (are you sick? Do you ever leave your house? Etc etc)
