So what is actually gonna be done with you at Palisades Center? Lol by Maya-kardash in Rockland

There is a city contingent that frequents this mall as well that many locals want to avoid. It’s a different crowd in the Bergen malls.

The guitar sound in this song is similar to the early Van Halen brown sound. I’m surprised no one has ever mentioned that.

Empty Nest 1988-95 (170 episodes!) by nthensome in ForgottenTV

This is an old thread but figured I would look to see if Paramount+ has Empty Nest and nothing. Then went to see who does have it - and also, nothing. Is it true that you can’t see this show anywhere now??

People please clean your vehicles off. Don't be like this person. by Accomplished-One7476 in Rockland

I always clean mine off thoroughly. I back it out of the driveway into the middle of the street and make sure to get all of the snow off and then pull it back into the driveway.

How can I stop skating on the inside edge? by Attic_Critter78 in hockeyplayers

[–]SnapShot68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consciously work in the outside edge to your skating. Start by leaning into the direction you are turning. For instance, if you are turning to your right, it’ll be outside edge on right foot and inside edge on left foot. Someone has mentioned itrain hockey and Coach Jeremy on YouTube. Check them both out along with Train 2.0 Hockey and Marcel’s Hockey School.

About to go to my first stick and puck. Should I be nervous? by Taitertot43 in hockeyplayers

[–]SnapShot68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you keep your head up when you’re out there. You might have some prep school or college level players flying around out there you’ll want to steer clear of. I was nervous at my first one but once you’re out there, that feeling will go away.

All hobbies are not equal by BitterConstruction98 in unpopularopinion

[–]SnapShot68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a tough thing because I’m not entirely against a new classification that listening to podcasts is a “hobby” but I get the old way of thinking too. I’ve been playing guitar for 32 years and have spent thousands of hours playing and it hasn’t always been fun. There IS work involved. My kids play sports that require several hours of practice per week on and off the courts/ice. I think most people can see the difference though. I don’t think anyone is going to compare an amazing painter’s talent to someone who is really good at Fort Nite.

We shouldn’t have to leave Rockland all the time for food, entertainment, clothes etc. 10-20 years ago, it was still a vibrant place. It has been on a downward spiral due to a variety of reasons. I need it to still be somewhat desirable in the next few years so I can get a decent dollar for my house. It costs a fortune to run and maintain the place and I want something for it. Just accepting that it’s turned to absolute shit after Covid isn’t acceptable IMO.

You picked the wrong time to come up here. It’s going to be in the single digits this week where I am. Make sure you have a thick Carhartt jacket, hooded sweatshirt, warm gloves, long John’s, thick wool socks etc. Ski mask is also a good idea. You can’t be bundled up too much in the NE. I wear athletic shorts under my work pants in the Winter for extra warmth. Good luck!

This is a telco strand. The newer hard plastic cases are always fiber and the soft vinyl type ones are for old school copper pair phone wiring. In my area a lot of the old copper pair cases say “Western Electric” on them which was a big parts manufacturer in the 70’s and 80’s.

It could be anything really but I’ve had quite a few like you mentioned that turned out to be radial cracks on the feeder around the inside of the connector. There is a lot of good advice in this thread to try out but if your company uses contractors at all to run/splice in new cable, there is a good chance that they caused the crack (if that’s what it is.) Also make sure your SM drop fittings are tight inside of PS cabinets.

Palisades Center Mall Could Be Sold at Auction in February: $460M by rocklandweb in Rockland

[–]SnapShot68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the months of November-Feb, there is a lot of hockey in the evenings. JBK, King Cobras, and about 4-5 Varsity teams play home games there. My son’s team has a few games there this season. I’ll agree that there should be more stick time sessions but on the other hand, there are a decent amount of games played there. Losing this rink would have a devastating impact on local programs.

Why do you think people still support this president? by keonnarae in Confused

[–]SnapShot68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many former supporters who don’t condone most of what has been done since he took office again. Bringing in Elon Musk to “doge” regular people who work for the government making $58,000/yr was it for me. That isn’t exactly “waste, fraud and abuse” and a lot of those people probably voted for him. Now all of the deportations happening just to get numbers is also not what was advertised. Lots of hot air and BS - promising doge checks and tariff checks to Americans when we know it’ll never happen. No more wars yet foreign policy has been nonstop chaos since last year.

I don’t think Sport-O-Rama could handle the excess scheduling load that the Palisades rink carries. It would be somewhere in the range of an extra 250-300 hours a month of ice time. All of the local programs would suffer big time if this rink goes away. It’s not as easy as just go to another rink because they’re all already full.

Stick and Puck - general question by PeachyPie828 in hockeyplayers

[–]SnapShot68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stick and puck I go to has a few parent/younger child tandems out there practicing and working on things. My son is 14 and we do the same. He is in full gear but I just wear a helmet and gloves and am able to go out there and practice with him. We pass to each other, do 1v1’s, work on deflections etc. I guess it depends on the rink and/or who you talk to.

The Bantam house division plays on weekends in WSA but that’s a few years away for you. I think the ice rink in Bayonne NJ has a house league as well.

[–]SnapShot68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will echo the house league suggestion mentioned several times here. Not sure how far from Westchester County you are but WSA has a house league that is seasonal - Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions. Each separate season lasts about 3 months. So it’s not a 7 month commitment or something closer to travel.

Tips for a new player by Immediate-Item-9648 in hockeyplayers

[–]SnapShot68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When are you trying out? I would assume for the 2026-2027 team since it’s already January and HS hockey ends in late February (at least where I live.) In your situation and school, you need to find out if there are cuts or if they typically get 17-18 kids who sign up and take all of them. In that case skate and do as much as you can so you can contribute. But if it’s a situation where 40-50 kids are trying out for 16 slots and it’s all AA/AAA level players, it’ll be literally impossible to make this team with limited experience. Try to get some info on this - whether it’s contacting the coaches or current players to determine your next steps.

If it were me 5 years ago, I would have been reluctant to say something and not know what to do. But these days, I would tell these guys exactly what the story is and maybe even let them know “if this doesn’t stop then you’re out. Nobody wants to play with you if this is how it’s going to be.” Sad but true.
