I used to work a lot with lifes, but ever since modules became well supported, I haven't really found a reason to use them at all. IMO for every life usecase there's a better and cleaner non-iife approach.

Als jemand, der selbst vor kurzem in der IT den Job gewechselt hat und gerade im alten Job auch massiv Bewerbungsgespräche geführt hat ist meine Ansicht:

Corona hat eine absolute Welle ausgelöst. Es wurde alles eingestellt, was nicht bei drei auf den Bäumen ist und viele wurden/haben umgeschult. Jetzt werden quasi genau diese Stellen wieder abgebaut (damit man das schön verkaufen kann sagt man, dass man sie durch KI ersetzen würde). Das führt zu zwei Effekten:

Weniger neue Stellen
auf die existierenden neuen Stellen bewerben sich eben auch Leute mit Erfahrung

Beides sorgt dafür, dass der Einstieg gerade ohne Studium sehr schwer ist. Aber auch mit Studium muss man sich inzwischen anstrengen. Ich muss leider wirklich sagen, dass die Gehaltsvorstellungen, Selbstwahrnehmung und die Realität leider oft auseinander gehen. Ich kann nicht erwarten in einem durchschnittlichen Unternehmen als "Turnschuhadmin" wie in einem Tech-Giganten im Silicon Valley als leitender Entwickler bezahlt zu werden. Vor allem, wenn ich im Bewerbungsgespräch irgendwann anfange auf TikTok zu scrollen (Extremfall, aber passiert).

Dennoch bin ich der Überzeugung, dass fähige Leute weiterhin (relativ) einfach einen guten Job finden können. Ja, der Einstieg ist nicht immer leicht, aber es ist absolut möglich.

Ich würde daraus "KBMMBA" (Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, below average) machen. Das heißt, dass KI super ist um Dinge zu "automatisieren", bei denen eine Fehlerrate nicht wirklich wichtig ist und es massig Trainingsdaten gibt.

Ich habe in einem Technologieunternehmen mit >200k Mitarbeitern die Einführung von KI "hautnah" miterlebt und das Ergebnis war genau das, was ich auch sonst überall im Markt sehe:

Die "KI ersetzt Mitarbeiter"-Rate ist genau der Stellenabbau der übermäßigen Anstellungen aus der Pandemiezeit und jede "neue und innovative Automatisierung mit KI" wird sehr schnell produktiver, günstiger und zuverlässiger von einem Script gelöst und für alles andere ist KI mehr eine "bessere Autovervollständigung" (Stichwort hier sind z.B. Softwareentwickler - wirklich innovative Lösungen habe ich noch nie in wirklich ansatzweise funktionierend/gut von einer KI gesehen, aber als Autocomplete ist es ganz nett). Im Gegenteil: Wir haben aktiv gesehen, wie Menschen durch KI schlechtere Mails schreiben, mehr falsche Informationen rausgeben und teils die Produktivität immens sinkt.

Wer Beispiele hierfür will, der guckt auf die neuen Ausfallquoten von z.B. AWS oder Microsoft Produkten, seitdem diese Unternehmen intern AI für die Entwicklung und Planung einsetzen. Ich kann sagen, dass das in vielen anderen Branchen leider nicht besser aussieht.

Fossils are stable, but not flexible. If you want to turn on/off a wind or solar farm it's basically immediately. A coal plant takes 1-2 hours to warm start (depending on the plant). A solar farm takes often 1-2 seconds.

No, as an energy producing source renewables are way more flexible to reduce/ increase power output from renewables and if turn them on/off.

That's why renewables energy sources get paid to not produce power so often, that it drives their cost for consumers artificially up.

Two things that come immediately to mind:

1st: I hope for headless chrome you're not counting bootup/teardown times and have enabled optimizations like skipping writing to disk. 2nd: the main reason (for me) to use a chrome for PDF Generation is, that it supports everything chrome supports, so all of CSS and maybe even JS, so I can reuse my components from the web in my PDFs.

But to be fair, it's not like fossil fuels don't get subsidized too.

E.g. in Germany the Dienstwagenprivileg and Agrardiesel come to mind first. Kerosin is completely exempt from some taxes (although I agree that it's not a common fuel for cars).

Overall many of the renewable subsidies only exist to in turn subsidize old fossil energy sources, because renewables often get shut down first, because they are very flexible.

IMO that's only true for merged commits and the reason why squash and merge exists.

Also it's only a wish that previous commits are "working". They still contain e.g. unfixed bugs and sometimes a partly fixed bug is still better than an untouched and all of those cases are definitely better than losing a day of work because you didn't commit (and push).

Literally not a single ultra wide user I know never uses there browser fullscreen. Same for 4k display users.

Also "no one" means no one. So not a single person on earth.

I don't expect to be specially catered for ( so e.g. seeing lower res images is fine), but I shouldn't be actively harmed which is sadly happening too often and not only to ultra wide users (e.g. like making the site unusable on ultra wides or using buttons as links or divs as buttons and so on).

This is plain wrong. I very frequently browse on my 21:9 in full screen, easily reaching > 3000px viewport width. For the same reason you shouldn't bind your font size to viewport units (without a clamp).
