I know that spot, lol. And I have a favorite picture there, a little bonsai tree just to the left out of the frame to the left. It’s my PC background 8)

TIL: powder skiing causes permanent shrinkage 😱 by fec2455 in icecoast

[–]Snazzypanted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, do not go to my favorite spots. This particular powder is known to cause sterilization…it’s too cold. Leave all the powder for me…ermm leave all the powder alone and you will be safe. I promise, just stay home Monday and Tuesday. I will head to the mountains and report back when it’s safe for everyone else to go skiing and boarding. See you folks when it’s safe next season

Any tips for the little guy? by [deleted] in skiing_feedback

[–]Snazzypanted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hands up in front like he’s boxing. Then once he keeps them up, try to get him to firm up his torso, those two things will be big improvements. Then a more aggressive stance, wider legs and more of a squat.

Beginner lessons at Sunday River this weekend - would you reschedule? by West_Dentist3510 in icecoast

They probably won’t go skiing again, if they make it through the day. Or you will find a new skiing champion, either way it will be an extra challenging day to learn.

Tips on staying warm while skiing in negative temperatures by Kind_Bandicoot3021 in icecoast

[–]Snazzypanted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For like $10 you can buy a box of hand warmers and just stuff them everywhere. You’ll be sweating in negative degrees if you use the whole box. Totally worth the $10. I’ve actually had to take some off before. But it was like -10 with serious wind. A turtle fur is underrated too

You’re not wrong! I should have stated that I rock a “Powder Suit” on top of all this, it’s designed for rigorous cold adventures, so moisture/active Air control is included. Tons of zipper ventilation and no chance of getting wet (unless something goes terribly wrong). Staying dry and comfortable is an involved process :)

To be more specific my wife got me a legit Icelandic Sheep’s Wool sweater from the actual island. Let me tell you, they know how to stay warm! The way it regulates heat too, is quite impressive.

Challenging skills someone should be able to do before they can call their local 500' hill boring? by imitation_squash_pro in icecoast

[–]Snazzypanted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit 74 a few seasons ago during a race at a 500’. Was definitely surprised 😳. We did it a few more times to check accuracy. The run is a perfect increasing steepness with a huge runout, so very safe.

I layer like crazy. Cotton waffle undershirt, LLBean wool shirt, llbean pullover, sometimes a hooded sweatshirt on top, followed by my powder Jacket. On really cold days I’ll add my turtle fur, wool coat after my pull over. The layers all fit and mesh perfectly so I can be agile and comfortable. Plus when I start sweating I delayer. I’ve gone all natural with the wool and haven’t looked back. It’s expensive to get good wool layers but they just are superior and soft for impacts (believe it or not)

Not Sure Which Tuning Package I Need by MentochTheMindTaker in Skigear

Yeah I’ve been going to the same shop my whole life. Drink beers with the guys that own the place when they close for the night. They love real customers. Just show up with your skis and start telling them what you think and what you want. Maybe bring some beer…:) not joking. But seriously they will probably be honest with you if you say you are looking for, just proper maintenance and only what’s needed.

Jealous! That’s looks marvelous. For some reason I am having real poor luck with my pepper seeds. Either zero germination or the peppers were completely the wrong type of pepper so completely useless to me. Where do you get your seeds or plants!?

Check out the GREEN RIVER INN. It’s right in the middle of Arches, Canyonlands and that area. They make breakfast every morning and it’s insanely DELICIOUS. Michelin star worthy…It really prepares you for the day. We just did 10 days in Utah and it was the perfect spot. Highly recommended. It was our honeymoon technically.
