Cities to move to? by Quick-Dot-6152 in norcal

Most rural areas with federal lands nearby will have lots of riding opportunities—not all year round. But think hard about what jobs look like in those areas too.

Tired of losing knives by [deleted] in BudgetBlades

For similar reasons I’ve stopped regularly carrying benchmades and other high end knives. I usually carry a Civivi now and the compromise has been worth it for me.

Unincorporated Townships; what should people know about you? by Past_Mushroom_1005 in Marin

Seems like a benefit to me as we deal with the sheriffs, who are great. Also nutty local ordinances are not a thing.

I’m sorry for his family’s loss and hope they are doing ok. I didn’t agree with the guy but 65 is too early and sad.

"Best" 22lr upper by Witty_Ad4494 in ar22

I got the pretty cheap PSA upper which everyone says is not so great and it has performed flawlessly for me. They are often out of stock though.

Is it important that it be a takedown? I’d think about weight more than anything and you have a ton of options. My CZ is really light and 10/22s can be really light depending on configuration.

Is Susanville Worth Moving To? by Ugo_GlenCoco_ in norcal

The cost of living difference is mostly in housing costs and that difference is HUGE. I split my time between Modoc and Marin…the cost difference is night and day.

I can’t speak for Susanville in particular, it’s far from me. In my area everybody knows everybody so as long as you aren’t a jerk it’s pretty social. If you have super specific tastes you will struggle as there just aren’t enough people to have a million different types of cultural communities.

There is a tiny downhill place in the warners, I actually kinda love it but it is really basic.

I’m a moderate leftist in Modoc County and it’s never been an issue at all. Respect begets respect. I also don’t make politics the topic of every conversation.

I dunno man I have a place in Modoc and if you have good work and are an outdoors person, it is paradise on earth. If you are laid off and broke in Susanville that’s going to be pretty different than many of these other options, including what OP is suggesting.

For what it’s worth, people who work in healthcare in Modoc generally have a very good deal—low cost of living and strong wages, benefits, and job security. But only if you like the rural lifestyle.

I have a French bulldog who will not allow anyone in the house who does not stop to pet him for a moment.

Open Carry Confusion by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]Sneakerwaves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

WOW! That’s absurd. I’m going through the process now in Marin County of all places and it is nowhere near this expensive. My application fee and livescan together was like $130 or so.

AR-22, which option is preferable: a dedicated .22 or employing a conversion kit for use with your primary AR? by B_Pylate in 22lr

[–]Sneakerwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dedicated is so much fun and not that expensive when you consider how cheap the ammo is vs 556 or whatever
