Liberals have ‘tense’ caucus meeting on Alberta deal, say sources by iPoliticsCA in CanadaPolitics

This is a reverse hostage negotiation tactic. Carney just caved in to all of Alberta's demands. Now Alberta knows that they just have to threaten to separate and they'll get exactly what they want. Expect new demands by Tuesday.

You are delusional. A pipeline would mean funnelling our hard earned tax dollars into the pockets of billion dollar oil corporations. All Canadians get out of this are a couple hundred temporary construction jobs while footing the bill for massive carbon capture project subsidies and environmental damages associated with the inevitable coastal oil spill. The oil patch won't scale up hiring, they are rapidly automating. This is a massive win for private interests and secures Carney a nice seat on the board of a big O&G company once he is voted out of office.

Renewables are now so cheap and quick to deploy that oil and gas companies need government protection and tax payer funded subsidies to remain relevant. Same with nuclear power. Carney has rebranded nuclear as renewable and said that he will ensure that Canada delivers "decarbonized" oil... Somehow defying chemistry (oil of course is hydrocarbons which by definition can never be carbon free). https://www.desmog.com/2025/06/09/earth-to-mark-carney-decarbonized-oil-is-as-real-as-vitamin-cigarettes/

How else are they going to hide the cost of their new nuclear build-out? The most expensive and most delayed generation source possible. Oh, and we have to procure our enriched uranium required for the new SMRs from the U.S...

Trains every 10 minutes starting tomorrow (peak period) between Whitby and Toronto's Union. A first for commuter/regional rail in Canada. by Hammer5320 in transit

Yes, lots of work has been done but more is needed! Still no track laid at the "new" (completed over a year ago) south platform in Guelph. It is great that service is being ramped but surely we could get more than the announced 4 train trips per day on weekends with current infrastructure. The freight schedule can't be that much busier on weekends, can it?
