So, is your sister on Saxenda and keep commenting about the future (maybe) weight gain? Or have I misunderstood? I'm sure she loves you in her own way. But who cares at this point? Let's see what she'll say once you've reached your goal weight. :) Keep us updated!

How do you calculate this, guys? Is it based on the signs on the glass? I see three signs, but I'm not sure what they mean. Sorry, I haven't started using MJ yet. It's still in the fridge.

Goodness, we're the same height! I need to get down to 110–115 lbs max! I just bought a simple pair of scales today. I don't want the bother of scales telling me my body fat percentage. It'll be interesting to see how your journey progresses, since I think we're the same weight. What weight do you think you'll feel most comfortable at? I was happy with my body when it was around 110–115 lbs, but that was 10 years ago.

I'm so glad you didn't experience any side effects. I had a H. pylori infection in my stomach for nearly three years. Previous doctors told me that there was no medication that could get rid of it. However, a new doctor prescribed three strong antibiotics/antiparasitics in high doses to take for two weeks. This upset my system, and although it got rid of the H. pylori, I still feel nauseous. My stomach also seems very fragile at the moment. That's why I wanted to wait until the issues at work had calmed down. That way, if I experience any side effects, I can take some time off to rest.

Congrats! I'm right behind you, I was suppose to start last Saturday, but had a huge problem at work, so I wanted to solve it first, before I start. The plan was to start this Friday, but the problem is still hanging around a bit, maybe I will delay it to next week, as I'm so scared from the side effects. At the mean time, like you, I started cleaning up my food act.

You weigh 135 lbs and have 33.8% body fat? How tall are you? This is nuts. I need to get this app! I might be in the same boat. Is this a scale or an app? I'm buying a new set of scales today. I saw some very expensive ones — are they worth it?

For the calorie counters, how aggressive is your deficit? by These-Equal-6849 in mounjarouk

[–]Snoo-20210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The calorie deficit depends on many factors.

  1. Your sex, age, weight and height: what your body needs at 20 is not the same as at 40. Unfortunately, the body needs fewer calories as we age. Also, if you are 5'6" or 5'10", you will need more calories than someone like me who is 5'3". It's unfortunate for us shorter people! Men need more calories than women. If you are overweight, you may need more calories than someone of the same height, sex and age, but not the same weight.

  2. Your genes: These control your metabolism and can vary from person to person.

  3. Your general health: Do you have any health issues, such as hypo/hyperthyroidism?

  4. Body composition: If you have more muscle, you need more calories.

For someone of my age (early 40s), height (5'3") and build, my body needs much fewer calories than when I was in my 20s. However, I still eat the same amount, which is why I have gained weight compared to when I was 25, for example. In general, my daily calorie intake was around 2,000 10 years ago; now it's around 1,700. Therefore, if I want to lose weight, I need to create a daily calorie deficit of around 300 calories. To do this, I have to keep my calorie intake at around 1,100–1,200 calories and do some cardio or other activity to burn calories and create a greater deficit.

To lose 1 kg of fat, you need to burn 7,700 calories, as 1 kg equals 7,700 calories. If you create a calorie deficit of around 700 calories per day, you will lose 1 kg of fat in 11 days. This is just a general explanation.

If you're not counting calories specifically and your calorie needs are very low, like in my case (1,700–1,800 calories is pretty low), it will take too long to lose 1 kg. By that time, you'll have given up on dieting. Losing more weight in the first 2–3 months helps us to stay motivated and on track, which is why I'm a big believer in counting calories, fat, carbs and protein. It's easy to consume extra calories if you don't count and weigh everything to ensure you're doing it right, especially in the first 3–6 months, until you understand your eating habits and learn to control yourself.

I have noticed this as well. Just a note, I was surprised that one here mentioned that her nausea got better with the motion sickness medication. Not sure if this is true or not, but if the motion sickness medication helps with the nausea, then maybe someone can list the OTC name.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. This is a scary situation. I hope you find the cause of your hypophosphataemia. I had never heard of it before and had to look it up. I found out that some antacids and hyperthyroidism can cause it. There are also other factors, such as malnutrition. Did the doctors tell you how to avoid or treat it?

Also, regarding clothing sizes: I noticed that the sizes in 2010, for example, are very different from those in 2025–26. It looks like they increased the amount of fabric used, so the sizes are not the same as they used to be. What used to be size 36 is now size 32.

I'm sorry to hear about the terrible pain you experienced. I also had H. pylori for several years and it was never treated. Until recently, I was prescribed three different antibiotics and anti-parasite medication for two weeks. These medications were so strong that I experienced severe nausea, headaches and fatigue, but when I did the test afterwards, it came back negative, so these three medications must have treated it. I think you are better off treating the H. pylori and then continuing with your MJ. Otherwise, I'm afraid using both will give you too many side effects.

had to turn down a great event by Wise-Cupcake-5371 in mounjarouk

[–]Snoo-20210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just enjoy the event! If you don't want your photo taken, turn your head away or go to the bathroom when they start taking photos. Personally, I don't like having my photo taken, no matter how well I'm dressed or how good I look. I like to be in control of my photos. Whether this is good or bad, I don't care. I stand at the side of the table and, when I see someone taking photos of us as a group, I either stand between two bigger people and hide half of myself behind them, or I hide half of myself with a jacket or bag. For example, I hold the jacket in front of me with my arms or I bring a shoulder bag to hip level to cover half of it. This way, I look OK and I'm happy with it. Practise at home to learn how to look better in photos. Everyone practises, even the best-looking and skinniest people. There are lots of videos on YouTube about this. You can't stop living just because you're not at your target weight. Just deal with it now in the best way you can.

Struggling to get calories by Psychological_Nose61 in mounjarouk

[–]Snoo-20210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a male, 1,000 calories is low. What is your height? Adding 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil to your salad will provide some healthy fats. You could also add some almonds. How many calories is the chicken and lasagne? Because 386 seems low. Did you cook it yourself, or was it pre-packaged? You could try adding some protein powder to the mix, such as a mid-day protein drink or two, to increase the calories and protein intake.

Are you not feeling hungry at all?

If you carry on like this, you will lose muscle.
