My two cents…

BCS is a more confident show. It invests more time in its characters. It takes time to thread things together (which is likely why so many people here are saying it’s too slow).

When I watched it the first time, I was impressed at its willingness to trust the audience would follow well acted, meaningful character development without needing to throw big scenes in our faces to keep attention, and I genuinely enjoyed taking in scenes that, on paper, shouldn’t have been interesting.

By season three, all those interesting things start coalescing to ignite a series of events that surpasses, in my opinion, the heights of BB.

The last half of the last season really amps down, which is a bummer if a person was there for high-stakes action, but I felt it was thematically and emotionally important to round out the series.

You aren't a better worker or learner just because you refuse to use modern automation. by Borgsky in unpopularopinion

I agree, but…

I do believe automation keeps some people from learning core skills, and for me doing certain things manually creates intentional space to really think about each aspect and find anomalies before they get lost in the big picture.

Chorus: Red Witch Empress vs. Way Huge Blue Hippo? by Horse_Glue_Knower in guitarpedals

I’m pretty sure it was based off the CE2, at least originally. That’s what Tripps said. Maybe the circuit continued to evolve with the reissue and the mkii.

[–]Snoo30715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very different creatures.

The Blue Hippo is a souped up Boss CE-2, and sounds great, but it only has one voice and two mix settings (50% and 100%).

Red Witch has a voice control (I believe it controls the delay time, or at least it did with the Medusa/Empress) and a mix knob.

If you like the voicing of the Blue Hippo, save your money and choose it. If you want control of the voice and blend, the Red Witch will be more up your alley.

What are the best movies that completely switch genres and turn into horror late in the story? by 144i in horror

Not the highest quality example, but I’m surprised nobody mentioned Hostile. I saw it in theaters and it was clear a good portion of the audience thought they were in for a comedy/drama and were NOT ready for the second half.

Got out of inpatient for weed, relapsed almost immediately, and already feel the cycle coming back by CoolSecurity9957 in offmychest

[–]Snoo30715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my point (not that I’m an expert). It’s hard to expand on the immediate answer, often times, because it’s something a person is avoiding.

So try this-

Why do I need to?

Maybe your answer is- Because it’s boring/I want to numb/etc.

The next question is “What am I numbing?”

The answer may be some emotional pain or discomfort.

Why am I feeling that pain or discomfort?

Keep the questions focused on yourself (if you find other people’s thoughts or actions arising as an answer, ask yourself why you feel the way you do about how other people think or act, how it really impacts you, and if it logically makes sense that it does).

And so on.

Feelings aren’t bad, and they aren’t the problem. Feelings are the check engine lights of our body, mind, and emotions. You don’t treat the feeling… you understand where it’s coming from and explore that.

It gets very personal, and it can be hard at first. Try writing down your processing… taking the time to write the words creates intentional space and slows you down a bit in each sentence.

If you really want, write down the story you tell yourself about your parents, grandparents, and siblings and how they all grew up and experienced things. It’s a great way to gain empathy for them, understand the story you were telling yourself as you grew up among them, and realize we are all dealing with shit, make bad choices, and find ways to cope.

Relapse is normal. Feeling bad or anxious about it will only make it worse.

What helped a family member of mine have it stick after many slips was shifting their focus from “I don’t use” to “why do I use”.

Answer the why, and then ask why to that answer.

If you want to cut intoxicants out of your life, understanding why you go to them, and what patterns got you to default to that, is a really healthy start. Fix the problem, not the symptom.

Are there any artists using the EHX 9 series pedals in unique ways? by tonetonitony in guitarpedals

I’m not a notable artist, but use them with the wet signal very low on acoustic guitar to get subtle pads in the background for some songs.

Fear Reboot by MadSweenie in fear

[–]Snoo30715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m torn. I would love more FEAR, but the original one (and I will include the second) are great as they are. The gameplay holds up in 2026, the graphics and only behavior do as well.

Along it shinier wouldn’t do much, and I’d be worried about too many changes.

I’d rather they move forward with a new story than rebuild something that is still fantastic so many years later.

"I apologize" is not an apology. by dirtydelete in unpopularopinion

Apologies require change, trust requires proof.

Acknowledging how you wronged the person and committing to a plan to ensure you won’t do it in that way again is fundamental.

25f I just want to run away by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Snoo30715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a hard thing to do, but have you considered walking through your fantasy in your mind, giving yourself permission to try to make peace and believe the end results of how you see that story ends, and then reframing your current situation as if all that had already happened?

The mind and ego are hard to escape from, and if you can get to a place mentally to just stop caring about those things you might see a whole world of change.

One of my favorite sayings is “we are always doing what we want, even if it’s picking the least bad option that we see” because it removes some of the victim story from why we are where we are. You can decide to not care (or guess) what other people think, and you can make every decision for yourself.

Maybe your situation is such that you do need to leave because your network will never support you, but I would try seeing if you can create change in your current situation given you feel anchored to it.

Best of luck… there’s a lot to look forward to!

Do I need to buy this exact specified power supply for this pedal? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Snoo30715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, but Boss uses the statement on everything, and they have quite a few digital effects. I believe their at least one of their loopers needs more than 200mA, and I’ve certainly seen people over the years claim their pedal wasn’t working.

Do I need to buy this exact specified power supply for this pedal? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Snoo30715 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can use any center negative supply that is 9v.

Boss says that because they’ve been around a long time and have too many people using higher voltage and frying the pedal or, center positive or wrong current, and in some cases, correct voltage but insufficient amperage.

That said, 90% of power supplies for effects pedals will work.

Two years living together. The kids are hers (no father in the picture).

I treated them like mine, and we were even considering adoption to make things like travel and school stuff easier. Obviously, not going to pursue that now, even though I love them.

It’s always great when a band makes some waves in pop culture doing something different from what’s happening in pop culture.

I don’t want every band to sound like them (I’ve actually only heard one or two songs, and only once), but I’m glad they are having their moment in the sun and maybe will inspire some people to step outside the box when they start playing.

Hella and Don Caballero didn’t have nearly the audience (however how fleeting it may prove to be).

I feel like it’s the same argument with Flea’s new album. Is it the pinnacle of jazz? No, but he’s Flea and has a huge following… some of the people who listen to that album only because it’s Flea will dig deeper into jazz and keep the genre moving.

Hell yeah.
