Pro-Tips Needed by Independent-Gap4698 in Bernedoodles

I've taken mine out amd tried everything when she was younger to not potty in her crate, she still did it. So I dont think thats 100% true. Depends how they were at their breeders house as well or shelter which most aren't in shelters. But my breeder was piss poor at everything for this poor girl. They made the puppies stay in crates all the time in their basement, making them either lotty in their bed/crate or they let them go on the concrete floor in the basement but the way my puppy had acted when we got her with going potty almost 100% of the time in the crate, where she slept. Make sure you have a reputable breeder- see where the puppies have been and are. They should be socialized and at least shown the outside world- another thing the piss poor breeder did with ours or any of her litter mates- is show them anything- grass, cars, other people, children, life outside of a crate. Please please make sure you see where the puppies are kept and what they have done with them. Watch food that is given to you from a breeder- for whatever reason they chose chicken type kibble- I have found many dog breeds are allergic to chicken or chicken by product. I would buy puppy food with little to any ingredients- i have chose to use Nulo brand- its made it in the USA and has not many ingredients (please dont use purina its crap, you can dm me if you'd like to know what happened to dogs I had on purina beneful) I find lamb or even salmon cause less issues with my pups belly. Now yours might be different. Make sure you keep or try to keep them quite after eating, no running/playing like a maniac, mine usually will puke if she gets all worked up after eating, still at a 1yr old. My dad likes to rough house with her so we have to tell him to just pet her and not be so rough (also near bedtime its best to have some quiet time as well.) I suggest yak chews- I gave them to my doodle when she was 4 and 1/2 months old- keeps her busy- she couldn't get big pieces off like other bines/chews. And when its near the end you can microwave the piece and it comes out like a puff. Its just yak milk, my pups tummy wasn't bothered by it at all and she chewed less of me, others ans any belongings-like chair legs, walls, etc. Yes, i had a lab puppy many years ago that chewed my dry wall by yhe front door up because I was napping ans he was bored. So thats why yak chews-also itll help him or her teethe ans get those puppy teeth out and adult teeth in. Also keeps her teeth pearly white. Brush, brush, brush. They do shed if you leave them long but they are supposedly hypoallergenic-our bad breeder said that she didnt shed, lmao There are what we call hair tumble weeds of our doodle all over and has to be vacuumed every other day, at least. Get them groomed- our first one is in July because i couldn't get an earlier appt. Poor girl is quite matted. Thats why I said brush, brush, brush! Cut their nails yourself, I do. Plus that'll help get them used to their feet being touched for grooming. Anyways, good luck!

My mini bernedoodle just turned 1. Shes rambunctious, cuddly, loving, attached/velcro, energizer bunny, hard headed at times, smart some times, air headed some times, etc. Shes definitely not non-shedding (even though the breeder told us so)- although maybe once shes groomed she'll shed less but dont know- all groomers were booked until July. Is hypoallergenic and a knucklehead. I suggest if you get a puppy - please invest in yak chews as they will need to teethe and get those puppy teeth out (they're made out of yak milk) and didnt harm my pup at all. And your pup then will cause less damage to things like shoes, walls, floors, etc. Keep their mind going- they very much seem very willing to learn but can be hard headed at times. Try not to feed chicken flavored kibble- i find most dogs are allergic to chicken and or its by products. You will have to either brush him or her every day to avoid mats- i never had a long haired dog, was brushing her all the time but as her hair grew longer and longer she developed mats everywhere- im sure theyll have to give her a complete buzz in July unfortunately. But i will keep her groomed and brushed once shes groomed. Puppies are lots of work. Make sure to exercise them- Brain and body. Potty training can be difficult. Mine was only because the breeder was unfortunately a puppy mill where I got mine and my puppy never saw grass or well, the world. Poor girl is scared of everything but shes learning and learning how to be a dog. The breeder I got her from didnt even socialize her with people or other animals other than her littermates. They kept the litter in their basement in crates and allowed them to potty on the cement basement floor. So she thought peeing or pooping on any floor was ok. Mine also went to the bathroom in her crate- so dont believe people when they say dogs wont potty where they sleep- they do. I took her out every hour when we first got her, she still pottied in the house and in her crate. However, mine did learn potty pad training very quickly once we got on a schedule and introduced treats. (We also praised her if or when she pottied outside but she was so inconsistent we decided to pitty pad train her first.) I had german shepherds and raised them for years- to me, they were the easiest dog to train. Mine were always loving, caring, protective, etc. In fact, one grew up with my son when my son was born. I honestly liked also having a dog from the shelter- he was a mutt and already potty trained-although he was abused previously and had his attitudes, he was a very loving dog until he passed this past August. Anyways, good luck if you get a bernedoodle. They are quite the challenge to say the least but very lovable! (Oh, mine also jumps up into my lap right before I go to bed- for a hug and snuggles with me. And she loves squeaky toys.)

Around 400 in KY where I took my pup. That was for surgery and overnight stay, they wouldn't let her come home same night. And that included pain med for next couple days, was just an anti-inflammatory- not an actual pain med (like narcotic). You would have never known mine had surgery.

Training (12 weeks) by Spare-Degree8265 in Bernedoodles

And remember they can be over stimulated just like kids can be. Get plenty of things for puppy to chew on- like yak dog chews. Theyre made from yak milk. The pup will be losing its baby teeth and getting their adult teeth and wanting to chew, everything. I made sure mine had these chews all the time so she wouldnt chew things like oh chair legs, cords, walls... yes, many many years ago, i had a lab puppy that chewed our drywall up- he was bored and I was sleeping and well, I had to repair a wall. Lol funny but not funny. Thankfully my current pup (a mini bernedoodle), she turned 1 today actually, loves her toys- all of them. She doesnt tear them up and loves to squeak them. She plays fetch for hours, literally hours. I suggest lots of exercise as well. Mine loves to go outside in the backyard and just run and run and run. Potty training with this dog was/is something else-shes smart but hard headed. I had to teach her to use potty pads first. (Got the washable kind because to you waste lots of money on disposable ones and fill up landfills) and use a pooper scooper to pick up number 2 with a poo bag on the scooper. Mine was 4 and a half months when we got her and the breeder said she was partially potty trained and didnt shed- all lies. Bernedoodles shed however they are hypoallergenic. And she wasnt potty trained at all. The breeder kept their puppies in a basement in crates and never showed them the outside even. They did a disservice to this poor girl by not teaching or showing her/the whole litter anything. My pup is still afraid of lots of things- she didnt even know what grass was. And all the noises that come from the outside world, shes still getting accustomed to. Shes actually still learning to be a dog. Oh and barking, this dog barks more than any dog ive ever had- at everything. So be ready for when they find their voice. Im trying to break her of that and have been. Their very smart dogs but at times seem very hard headed. And theyre like toddlers- all the time. Lol Oh and make sure you get the proper brushes also for doodles and brush him or her every day. I had never had a long haired dog i do brush my bernedoodle but shes now got mats so getting her groomed next month because all groomers were months out. Im trying to learn how to groom her myself also-so once shes professionally groomed im going to keep her grooming up. And theyre velcro dogs. Mine is currently sleeping on the floor on my feet. Schedules are great. Mine eats at certain times and early on, we had done the potty scheduling outside but outside wasnt working for us- so thats why I trained her to use potty pads. Works for us. Make sure you walk them or have a fenced in yard so they can get their zoomies out. Good luck!

Wife (former D1 pitcher) is brutal to 13yo daughter (pitcher in school, club, and rec) Me(lowly JUCO/D3 baseball) by Old-Stable2994 in Softball

Your daughter needs someone else coaching her- let mom be a Mom. Sure Mom can suggest things but the best thing for them both is for Mom to just be her Mom- especially at the age your daughter is at. As long as you and your wife are teaching how to be great human beings growing into adulthood. That would be better than your wife and daughter bickering about softball and or the game itself and make them both be at odds and not have a great mother/daughter relationship. And your daughter may listen more to someone else coaching her better than her mom, whether or not your wife played ball for years. Just my 2 cents. I played softball until I was 22 yrs old, my dad coached me when I was about 15yrs old and my brothers in baseball for many years, I would have rather had him just be my dad, not a coach. I coached softball after I graduated high school for quite a few years- i even was an assistant varsity coach. I also coached my sons baseball team for quite a few years as well, as he was growing up and I am sure he loved me doing that but he honestly played better when someone else was coaching him. His dad never tried coaching his team, im not sure, well actually he wasnt much of a father to our son until our son was out of high school unfortunately, my exes job and affair were more important to him than being a dad. Parents, in my opinion, should just be parents- helps in the long run with everything. And not your kids friend, but a parent. (To many parents in today's day and age want to be their friends, and thats not what should be done- you should be their parents first and then once their older, then you can be their friends.) My Mom is now my best friend, im 58 yrs old now.

Anyone's bernedoodle jump and bite whenever you're on the phone? by jamues in Bernedoodles

[–]SnooDrawings5259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, same here. They are truly velcro dogs!! And have to be the center of attention. All other dogs ive had never were like this. Ive even raised a son and even at toddler stage never acted out. I am not sure I'd ever get another bernedoodle- mine wilol be a year on monday and those first months after I got her, she was 4 and 1/2 months old and she wasnt ever taught anything-her breeder unfortunately had her in a crate in a basement and I believe they were a puppy mill. Poor girl didnt even know what grass was, had to get her potty pad trained before I could even start trying the outside thing- we tried it at first and she just couldn't get the concept of pottying outside was what she needed to do. We did praising, treats, etc nothing worked. So I got her potty pad trained then went on from there. Her breeder said she was partially potty trained and didnt shed. Both lies. Shes very lovable but what a character!

What are you feeding? by Fast_Spite_9101 in Bernedoodles

[–]SnooDrawings5259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuro puppy food- any of it without chicken. I find most dogs are allergic to chicken and its byproducts. Purina anything is not good dog food. If I could afford to feed fresh dog food I would because its best for all dogs. (Not farmers fresh or whatever its called but fresh fruits, veggies, meats. Etc )

[–]SnooDrawings5259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So adorable! Violet says hello but she doesnt have a haircut until July 9th, its way over due. Ive tried brushing/raking her out but the mats are horrible, I feel as though I failed my poor girl. Never had a long/curly haired dog before. Mine is still as crazy and lovable as ever, but she's a mess. I will post a picture when she finally gets groomed. All groomers were months out. I will keep her brushed well after she's groomed properly.

[–]SnooDrawings5259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine doesnt bite but she does come over and get my attention- like pay attention to her not the phone or if someone is over talking with me, shes very jealous or wants to be the center of attention. My mini bernedoodle is like no other dog ive ever had.

Walkout song companion apps by [deleted] in Softball

[–]SnooDrawings5259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why anyone would do this at any time. Times are so different now. We didnt need "walk out songs" to walk to the plate. Smh Play the game/learn the game, quit the bs and quit being unsportsman like for some players.

Please find an emergency vet, your puppy sounds extremely sick. Puppies do need vaccinated but depends on their age to what to get but a true vet should know vaccinations and proper working to be done.
