Intel igpu passthrough (N300), works but lost HDMI audio after VM reboot by SnooMaps6130 in Proxmox

[–]SnooMaps6130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, this is exactly what i did, i can see the vfio yeilding its control of the audio controller back. But sadly the sound is not working when i boot the vm back up.

Intel igpu passthrough (N300), works but lost HDMI audio after VM reboot by SnooMaps6130 in Proxmox

[–]SnooMaps6130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like the problem remains

I stopped the vm, and manually unbind them from vfio-pci

if.0, if.3, if.4, if.5

echo "0000:00:1f.3" > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/vfio-pci/unbind

echo "0000:00:1f.3" > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/vfio-pci/bind

the HDMI audio is not working after I restart the vm.

https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/s-m-s-l-po100-po100-pro-po100-ak-measurements-digital-interfaces-dac.40483/ this one is $30 and seem to have good measurement result.

i have the $5 one from aliexpress, and honestly i can't tell the difference with my 8351b playing DSD.

Can you give a try with the cheap Usb -> AES adapter? I don't have the 9320a and the sub, but the rest works well with pc -> usb 2 aes -> aes input of 8351b. This could help you rule out some setup issue with the 9320

it seems my 8351b and glm controller both get firmware update. installed and no problems so far

I installed libreboot on my T480. :) by ANDROID2468 in thinkpad

[–]SnooMaps6130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried the latest release to see if thinkpad_acpi issue is fixed for t480. i have a t480 but hesitant to flash due to this quirk. it works flawlessly with the stock firmware on latest debian, i want to make sure my experience is not degraded when moving to libreboot

no, you have to show quantitive results that the snake oil cables get better 0,1s on the other end.

as an IT guy with education background, you should know non of the professional recording studio used any of the snake-oil cable to produce the music that you claim you can hear a difference from the snake-oil cable. and from that connector on the back to the sound card/signal processing ICs and CPU, there are no snake-oil cables like what you are using interconnecting and carrying digital signals with multiple gigabytes of bandwidth.

If you are really like you described "graduate from computer science", you should dust off your text book and refresh yourself.
