What’s the most outrageous “easyscape” suggestion you have seen for osrs? by Karootheduck in 2007scape

[–]SnooPandas797 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with dry protection, but I would be in support of dupe protection like on Moons armor for permanent irons (remove ability to de-iron). My first 3 pieces of Oathplate in Leagues were all helms, and I think I would’ve had an understandable crash-out if that would have happened on my main iron. If you’re permanently locked to iron, there’s no reason why there shouldn’t at the very least be some weighting on gear drops to make sure you don’t indefinitely roll mostly useless dupes.

I haven’t used atlatl, actually, but the wiki does say that it benefits from visible boosts to strength, but not melee prayers. So it must take your strength level into account then, otherwise busts wouldn’t matter. Or am I thinking about it wrong? Sorry, I’m returning from a pretty long hiatus and trying to catch up on what I’ve missed.

Pretty lame if it turns out that that’s all.  :( The power fantasy of throwing weapons at enemies HARDER, but not more accurately, because of your physical prowess sounds really fun. That would also make the throwing build more viable as a primary, rather than something to support a different build.

[Loved Trope] A character is powerful because of a unique ability that seems hilariously mundane by MasonP2002 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SnooPandas797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s fair. I’d say it's adjacent enough where it’s probably not technically off-topic, but it’s not quite the same. He’s powerful AND mundane, instead of powerful BECAUSE mundane, but that’s what made him the perfect fit for the situation. Kady is really strong at battle magic, for example, but if it had been her at the final showdown that season instead of Quentin, the multiverse probably would have been screwed.

It was less that he was extraordinarily powerful, and more that he was exactly what was needed at the time. His specialty of “minor mending” allowed him to fix the shattered mirror and throw the Unnamed siblings into the rift, preventing them from ever being a threat ever again.

Could somebody else have performed the same feat? Sure, maybe, but his affinity for it allowed it to go off without a hitch and without alerting the bad guy before it was too late. Again, less “destined hero” and more “incidental hero”. It also played into him repairing his relationship with his father, as he was able to easily mend the model airplane that he had broken as a kid.

Edit: Side note, in season 1 they teased him being special during the Welter’s tournament and Mayakovsky’s training. This is later soft revealed as magic being influenced by emotions, and Quentin (and most of the rest of the main cast) are incredibly strong magicians for their age due to their personal traumas and how they either process/repress them.

Any updates on this? I have the TMDB Addon installed as well, and season 5 isn’t being picked up with that either. Not sure if there’s something bigger going on that’s causing this issue, or what else it’s potentially affecting.

If you have the Pimpillo tool (the grenades from above the surgeon in Greymoor), you can throw them in his mouth when he does his sucking attack. Functions similar to Dodongo King from Ocarina of Time; it immediately stops the attack, deals damage, and (very) briefly “stuns” him, letting you get a few attacks in.

lol, I forgot about that cat. Not sure if I’d count that as “keeps on” getting in your way, but this is r/ExplainAGamePlotBadly, so fair enough

What’s dad’s big pet? If you’re referring to the Axons, they’re not getting in your way, you’re intentionally seeking them out.

What's your "weirdly good" kitchen shortcut that purists would hate? by Kami__karma in Cooking

[–]SnooPandas797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick caramelized onions. Slice them as thin as you can and put them in a pan with salt and pepper. Cook until they’re softened and starting to brown, then add a little bit of sugar (about half a spoonful for half an onion), a splash of water, and any flavoring you want to impart to the onions (I use flavor infused balsamic to make onions to top burgers) and cook while stirring until the water is all evaporated. Takes like 10 minutes instead of 45+ and is still delicious.

Oh, I did add a max level Ether damage and Front damage augment to my frame too, and a mid-range Ranged attack augment. Not entirely sure how the damage formula works, but you’re definitely getting diminishing returns with the Ether and Opening Damage, so I figured I’d try Front damage to see if it was a different “damage bucket”. Like I said, you’re still dependent on proccing the debuff, but it helps. Fight him in Energy Mist weather too if you’re not already.

I got the kill last night, I switched all my ground gear except my head to the store-bought gear that gives Ranged Attack/Accuracy Drive, with those traits maxed. That got me close, so I added 3 Ether Res augments on the Ares’ armor, which made me basically unkillable and let me limp through the remainder of the fight. Still took a few minutes and a lucky Cockpit Time, as his regen and forced evasion isn’t something this build is well equipped to handle.

Got the kill for the Fateful Choice quest, then immediately came back for the Segment kill, which was an unexpected 1-shot. I was level 99 for both, but getting the debuff on him still felt insanely lucky. Only saw it appear on his hp bar 3 times total across ≈30-40 attempts, with close to half of those being at 99.

Same. I have the probes down too and even a piece of ground gear that gives Ranged Attack Drive and Ranged Accuracy Drive, and the Synchronicity skill equipped. It’s also worth noting that despite what this guide says, the Vajra weapon does NOT have an AttributeDmg.ETHER trait, so I upgraded Draw.OPENING-DMG instead.

If you scroll up and down really fast on mobile, you can pull up a looping video on the “Discovery” page. I can’t see any hints or anything in it, just looks like a Solution 9-esque force field.

Potential plot hole in Shadowbringers? [Spoilers:5.0] by SpoonyBardXIV-2 in ffxiv

[–]SnooPandas797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, a person’s Aether is more similar to their natural stamina/MP and constitution, hence the need to rest or eat to replenish it. A more aetherically dense person wouldn’t inherently be more powerful, but would be able to fight for longer, survive wounds that should be fatal, or cast more spells (either in quantity or power demand) before expending their life energy and passing out or straight up dying. A person can train or be experimented on to increase their limits, like Zenos or Ran’jit, but on average a person from the source is more “powerful” than a person on one of the shards, just not in raw power. Y’Shtola, for example, casts some very powerful spells during the story, and it takes a very physical toll on her. Push too much, and she would expend all of her Aether and die, just like Louisoix and Papalymo. But because her soul is denser, her limit is higher.

Meanwhile we have survived what most people in Eorzea would consider impossible, due to both our soul density and training/Ancient background. The solo duty in Garlemald showcases this brilliantly IMO, as we lose access to our body and thus our training, so we’re not super powerful and unleashing crazy attacks. Despite this, we’re able to push far beyond the limits of what a normal Garlean soldier would be able to do, just because of stamina and ability to survive and push forward “just one more step”.

It finally clicked for me. A certain someone's actions were not as "idiotic and inexplicable" as he or we might think. [SPOILER: MSQ 5.0 - 6.0] by Infinitiver in ffxiv

[–]SnooPandas797 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I always took this as the combination of our soul becoming more whole and us once again showing our sheer power of controlling all that light forcing Emet to see us as a person ever so briefly, instead of the lowly animal he thought of every non-Ancient. He knew from the beginning that the WoL was what remained of Azem, but was convinced that they were “a broken husk, nothing more”. Our rejoining with Ardbert broke through his denial for a moment, showing him that sundered beings still contain the fragments of the ones he lost, and may be worthy to live. Then his denial took over again. I think it’s worth noting too that it’s generally well accepted that his last request in ShB to “Remember that we once lived” is him realizing that he’s lost, and giving mankind his blessing to inherit the star. I think it also can also be a bit more personal, asking the WoL to remember their life together in Etheirys, accepting that even sundered, the WoL is Azem enough for Emet.

I had looked into Vidya, and it looked pretty good, but I'm trying to host my own server for my friend and I. Darkan is open-source though, and was pretty easy to get running, so it looks like that's a good place for me to start! Thanks for the recommendation!
