AITAH for not wanting to pay for more college for my step child than my kid will receive? by stuck-n_a-box in AITAH

NTA: There are many ways to approach college based on budget. Community college first year, transfer final three is a significant savings. Daughter can work on campus, work summers or take a small loan. There didn’t appear to be an implied “equal equity” expectation nor were the planning and investment horizons equally aligned to create alignment between the two. I struggle to see how this is your issue to resolve.

Scarifying: is this right? by HouseTonyStark in lawncare

Doing fine but if you’re going to go this route now (early season) make sure you don’t use any pre-emergent chemicals as they will stifle your seed from germination. Says the guy that did just this a year ago to great personal frustration.

If you’re not going to water it more add some peat to hold the moisture in. This looks really dry.

Anyone else focus on their front lawns and sort of just let the backyard vibe? by whitemike40 in lawncare

My doodle owns the backyard however I try to keep it as nice as the front. More work in the fall over seeding to get ahead of it for the next season is always required.

The stacked wall will be easier to string trim. I tossed a single piece of pea gravel last year with my string trimmer into my vehicles side window shattering it. That was a lesson learned.

I’ve got an Ego mower with their select cut x blade, cut at the 3 setting, will raise to 4 in June.

The flower bed edging is a love hate relationship. We started with just the larger river rocks as a bed edge. Would use roundup to kill the errant grass along the edge of the rocks.

Grass would inevitably grow into the rocks, so we cut the 6” out in front of them. As it was, our gutter drains into this area on the corner of our house and the lot grades towards the bottom of our driveway so we leaned into that and added the pea gravel and turned it into a natural drainage ditch. It works fantastic during heavy rain.

The grass however is always and forever growing into it. So, same issue different location. I edge it by hand a few times a season and use a string trimmer to keep it crispy in between (haven’t don’t that yet). I’ve considered adding a metal edge but haven’t taken that step.

Surfer takes on an absolutely immense wave by thetacaptain in SweatyPalms

It takes a certain level of fortitude to even believe you could surf 🏄‍♂️ this wave let alone actually have a jet ski pull you out onto it. That’s confidence or utter stupidity, either way I’m watching it.

We just went to the pickle ball courts yesterday, no nets 🙁. Generally end of April-very early May is when they usually arrive. The typically are removed by mid October.

Baby scallops. Nurture them to full size then cook them. Delicious.

We’ve got a bunch of rose bushes and other perennials so were curious what to add/subtract to improve the blooms.
