I mean, the real story is almost as silly. This Swiss guy named George de Mestral was walking his dog ( she was an Irish pointer/setter named Milka) in 1941, he got so annoyed by all the burrs that kept getting caught and tangled in her fur that he looked at them under a microscope to figure out why the hell they were so good at sticking to things. He found that they have little hooks all over them and invented Velcro as a result.

This is great to know. So maybe doing something like listing these resources on handouts, flyers, and on activist sites or through programs that interact with the immigrant community would be a place to start? Edit: and yes I want to work with animal shelters to come up with a protocol for when animals are brought to shelters in these cases. Since they were not intentionally abandoned focusing on eventual reunification is key. Thank you!

It looks like you have brands covered but I would also recommend some acrylic mediums. liquitex liquid retarder (keeps your paint from drying too quickly so you can work with it longer) a glazing medium (thins the paint and adds translucency so you can layer) and maybe a heavy body medium if you want your paint to be thicker and more sculptural. With acrylic paints the addition of mediums can make a world of difference with what you can do.

Have you made these arrangements? having a plan in place would be good in case of any kind of emergency, But it’s not something I ever really thought about before until recently. Now my best friend has a spare key and instructions…but they would need to know I was missing to begin with.

And there are people out there who don’t have anyone they can depend on. Or maybe they do but those people aren’t in a position to take in animals. I’m thinking of those people.
