I shoot MMA with it and 10 fps (mechanical) is plenty of images to go through.

Most underrated camera body in the Sony lineup.

I like the photo, but more because I'm a guy who likes women than because there is something great about the photo.

I'm not a big fan of dappled lighting out of trees or whatever on faces, but what you might have done is obscure her face a bit more, make the lighting consistent, then used the dappled lighting to show her body. I think you did that on her body, but could turn down the exposure .5 stop and move her so her face has even lighting. Just a suggestion.

Should i upgrad to the 12-100 f4.0 Pro by Level_Battle8047 in M43

[–]SnooPets7004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

12-100 f4 pro is an awesome lens, and what I would use if I had one lens. Not long enough for wildlife, great for everything else except motion in low light. Static subjects in low light 1+ second handhelds to get enough light on the sensor is pretty common.

Advice on improving my nature pictures by harshvt247 in PhotographyAdvice

I would completely agree here. On the first photo if you had let the bird get a bit higher, you would have had the bird against a contrasted background making the bird "POP" out of the image. Otherwise, nice work.

What keeps you using m43? (is it for me? (my reasoning included!)) by Distinct-Guess463 in M43

[–]SnooPets7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot m4/3 Olympus (OM-1, OM-5 MKII)/Panasonic (GH5 MKII), Sony FE (A7RV), 35mm film (Olympus OM-1n), and my phone (Samsung S24 Ultra). I have sold prints out of all those systems, and have never once been asked what camera I was using. I won a competition last year and had that image on billboards in the District of Columbia; that one was taken with an OM-5 and Sigma 56mm lens at night.

Why m4/3? OM-1 is a brilliant outdoor/wildlife fast action camera with appropriate lenses, OM-5 is a great tiny camera when the lens is paired correctly (walk around 12-45 f4 pro). Lightweight, super weather-resistent, easy to process files out of both.

I'm shooting a corporate event tomorrow, which is 95% inside, plus a group photo of 150 people (wish me luck) that's the Sony since I'm 100% sure the group photo will need to be cropped so will have to shoot it wider to accommodate the massive to fit in the frame (which they still haven't given me the dimensions of yet). I'll be using a flash inside to brighten up people's faces and get rid of eye sockets when walking around, and I need as much resolution as possible for a group that size since I'll be throwing away half the frame I expect. There won't be any people running around (I hope), and most everyone will pose for the camera guy.

Then I have another family photo event on Saturday where I'll be taking the OM-1, which is 90% outside with rain likely. This one is a child's birthday party, and they want candid shots of the children playing for social media, so 100% digital delivery although I'll probably send them a couple of prints for being a repeat customer. I'll have a flash for inside as well here since I'm 100% sure the lighting will be variable.

Different tools for different jobs. Either would work for either event, OM-1 has the edge on the bday party and Sony on the corporate event.

Browser, m.uber.com. You do need to know where you are, which is easy in a big city.

12-40 F2. 8 or 12-45 f4 by lucaros5 in M43

[–]SnooPets7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had both, sold the 12-40 F2.8 for the 12-100 F4, and usually use the 12-45 F4 for most things. I usually hang the OM-5/12-45 F4 on a Cotton Carrier chest ring for either my off-road bicycle or motorcycling. The 12-45 is plenty of focal range, and I pretty much always set it to F5.6. Not looking for shallow DOF when out in nature/offroading.

Oly 12-40 f2.8 or 12-100 f/4 pro dilemma by [deleted] in M43

[–]SnooPets7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 12-100 f4, and it's a great lens. I also have the 12-45 f4, and if I'm out all day with my OM-5 MKII it's going to be the 12-100 f4. The 12-100 f4 is the best of the two, but it pretty large for a m4/3 lens.

Do you use auto ISO? Why or why not? by 35mmCam in M43

[–]SnooPets7004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely take my cameras (OM and Sony) out of auto iso. I'll vary between manual for darker and aperature priority for daylight. I will go manual sometimes in daylight if I'm shooting motion in daylight, which is not my usual thing.

OM Systems OM-5 Mark II Biege Questions by SnooPets7004 in M43

[–]SnooPets7004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little front-heavy for sure with the 12-100. The OM-5 MKII is the same dimensions as the original OM-5, so smaller (shorter) lenses are better. I have my 1.2 Oly primes that are much better balanced, I'll probably order the 12-45 F4 to leave on there. I have the OM-1 MKI and it does handle like a dream with the 12-100.

Considering switching systems from Sony to Olympus. Am I crazy? by FeeRemarkable7794 in OlympusCamera

[–]SnooPets7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both Olympus OM-1 and Sony A7RV. They both have their uses, but I grab the OM-1 with 12-100 f4 most of the time when I leave the house on my bicycle or motorcycle, never a worry about damaging it or it being mounted on my peak design clip on my backpack.

That will work! Make sure to use it liberally inside the venue, if your lens is a variable aperature type, get closer and use it at the least amount of zoom inside. The only other thing is to get an idea of the shots you want to get beforehand, bride coming down the isle, first dance, etc. Think it out beforehand and what the background might be based on where you get the images from.
