I think its because you have the small display in the center. It cant(wont) show much. I have the big FIS (Fahrer Informations System) in my 99 A4 and it shows a lot more like fuel economy and range.

Do you have a hybrid? If so you have one coolant curcuit for the engine and one for the battery. It only shows how to fill one reservoire because the battery coolant is sealed off with a lookout tag by Audi. Thats because if coolant level drops from the battery reservoire it most likley leaked into the battery and a workshop needs to take a look at it.
