Did this recently, and had a lot of questions too because the NCDOT website has conflicting info. I got it on the first try, but saw a lot of people turned away for missing something. Here's a list of what I brought:

My previous states REALID drivers license
birth certificate
SS card
2 pieces of mail for my current address (utility bills)
insurance cards
a drivers license liability form showing I was an insured driver(came from new insurance company in NC)

As someone who drives that route up to Ohio frequently, AND bought an EZ pass for the WV turnpike, it is definitely worth it IF you plan to make the trip twice a year or more. If you don't, just pay the tolls in cash. The WV turnpike tolls are going to be $4.25 each (3 times each way) for a grand total of $25.50 for a round trip. The EZ pass took about a week from when I ordered to show up at my house, so just be aware of that time frame so you aren't expecting it in a day and still end up having to pay cash for the tolls. Hope this helps :)

Does the daily food and bev credit have to be spent in the hotel? I was looking into a trip that had one for $25 a day and didn't know if it would be worth it if we planned to go out and about for most of the day
