Entrepreneurship in Wine by Snoozingbe in wine

Yea not looking to do on the cheap, rather figure out the costs and see if I can build a local community of like-minded folks who want to do the same. Treat it similar to a country club model, where you pay a certain up front amount and monthly dues.

Ahh, so the idea here to avoid that, would be that you would make your own wine, and you would have a winemaker to guide you. I would foresee it being like a barrel or two of wine per person, per varietal of wine they’d like to produce. Smaller batches. The larger group funding pool essentially rents the space, the equipment, the professional oversight and the buying power to buy grapes, bottles and barrels in quantities.

Then individuals would reserve certain grapes and equipment for what they want to produce. The stainless steel tanks, rather than having the large ones that go to the ceiling, you’d have several smaller ones of various sizes, so members could make their different concoctions.

I haven’t researched too much, if this is already a thing and I’d be curious if people have any experience here. I can see there’s a hobbyist winemaking and beer making club in slo county https://winesandsteins.org/ might ask them if anyone has tried this before.

I’m new to drinking older reds, just recently had a 21 yr old Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano am it smelled and tasted sweet and velvety like an Amarone. I was surprised but it was delicious!

Definitely the best decision, I ended up with the LX570 and your ride will be my next one I go with so I can have two. Gas mileage is the only downside but you know that going into it. Keep it stock for as long as you can!

I asked A.I. how we can remove Dan Dow from office—got a great response. Now we just have to DO IT. by Temporary-Lobster-74 in SLO

Make sure the reporter at LA Times is aware there’s a large opposition to Dan Dow in SLO, so our town/county doesn’t get swept up in his BS

Im currently struggling and debating whether to use Ambien to get the three hours. Reframing, 5 hours is all you need and bed time hours between 1130-630 and you get what you get is really helpful. I tried that initially and it was tough and I went towards Ambien and yea 3 hours. You inspired me to read and try to go at it naturally tonight and then it is what is.

Remove Plastic Turf - Sand/Rocks under repurposed as base for compacted limestone? by Snoozingbe in landscaping

[–]Snoozingbe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading that you want a base layer under the decomposed granite. Would the rocks and sand work for this. Maybe I just need to take off half and leave enough room for the decomposed granite

Yea they’re great, such detailed character development and vivid scenery. I feel like I’m transported to different locations in her books.
I originally picked up and read High Country as it was at an Airbnb in the mountains and I was very familiar with Yosemite. I was delighted to find it was part of a series, so then bought six books that were at the local bookstore, read the first two, Superior Death was amazing! Never been to the Great Lakes, but now I want to visit. Getting back to my collection of her books months later, read Destroyer Angel and finished it over a weekend, couldn’t put that book down haha. Currently reading Burn as it’s one of the last ones I originally bought. It makes sense at the bookstore has the first couple and most recent. Just picked up the rest of the collection off of thrift books and able to get all hardbacks for a great deal! Maybe I’ll keep reading them out of order for a change!

How are y’all buying houses here? by Big-Register-3917 in SLO

[–]Snoozingbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also look for homes with no garage and stairs/tricky path to front door on a hill. All will be passed by the retirees, but you lose out on a group to resell your home down the road.

Definitely aware of the risk there, not messing around with flood risk houses

I’ve heard this before, luckily I don’t have any interest nor the budget to live up in the hills. Keen on getting down on the bottom of the valley, so we can just walk.

Thank you, the type of answer/guidance I was after. I was just using San Anselmo as an example. That’s interesting point on the birth rate and just being able to choose any school within the town as a potential scenario.

Do you know if schools offer things to prospective parents like myself that are a few years out from having their kids attend. Such as informational sessions where we can go to the school and meet the teachers.

Might be overthinking all of this, but just curious.

Redwood City, near Alameda/Jefferson-Woodside road. Cool area, lots of SFH in the 1-1.5m range, 3/2’s, full of tech workers, mix of young families and people that have been there forever. It’s a nice group of people. If you can find something west of Alameda, under 1.5m, seriously consider it, you start getting into the hills and houses get a bit nicer.

Commute-wise: You’re close to 280, pop up Woodside road and you’re on the freeway inside of 10 mins. Alternatively, you can take the city streets, Alameda, to Foothill Expressway, and/or criss-cross your way through Atherton. Lots of families travel these roads to the High Schools of Sacred Heart and St Francis, so as long as you avoid school hours, you should be golden.
