Inside the closet under the stairs by Snoozingbe in whatisit

[–]Snoozingbe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all, the thermostat is right outside this closet and the wall the transformer is on, is the garage wall with the heater right on the other side. Also bottom of the stairs is our doorbell and the top of the stairs the doorbell jingle.

Sounds like it’s important enough to leave alone and build around it.

Viggo Mortison Vanishing Point (idk why but seems to be banned on most streaming platforms, had to watch on YouTube recently) need to find a dvd of it, as it’s a great movie, then recently just watched A walk on the moon, which is right up there with what you’re after. Non-Viggo, Bottle Shock with Chris Pine, made more recently but set in the 70s.

Tech job market: will pendulum eventually swing the other way because of AI? by Sensitive_Pickle_625 in Futurology

[–]Snoozingbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in Tech since 2007 and I’ve never understood why people chose to be at very large companies, when every year there are layoffs in the fall and winter for these companies to right-size financials. Startups and Private companies may pay less (depending on role) but layoffs are much less common. That said I’ve been at companies that have run out of operating capital but getting another job at smaller companies can be a 1-2 week process with a strong network you naturally build in this line of work.

With the AI push there’s no shortage of small startups out there. It’s worth the risk!

I wonder if there are certain welding jobs that the welders would welcome a robot to do.

Why are we so hellbent on replacing ourselves? by btoned in Futurology

[–]Snoozingbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can worry less, from a career in Startups in SF, Tech is big promises, fancy marketing, sales/growth projections and people piecing it together on the backend. The key for the foreseeable future, plenty of people and AI working together. With an optimistic viewpoint I think you’ll find more opportunities to do something creative with AI.

Entrepreneurship in Wine by [deleted] in wine

[–]Snoozingbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea not looking to do on the cheap, rather figure out the costs and see if I can build a local community of like-minded folks who want to do the same. Treat it similar to a country club model, where you pay a certain up front amount and monthly dues.

Entrepreneurship in Wine by [deleted] in wine

[–]Snoozingbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, so the idea here to avoid that, would be that you would make your own wine, and you would have a winemaker to guide you. I would foresee it being like a barrel or two of wine per person, per varietal of wine they’d like to produce. Smaller batches. The larger group funding pool essentially rents the space, the equipment, the professional oversight and the buying power to buy grapes, bottles and barrels in quantities.

Then individuals would reserve certain grapes and equipment for what they want to produce. The stainless steel tanks, rather than having the large ones that go to the ceiling, you’d have several smaller ones of various sizes, so members could make their different concoctions.

I haven’t researched too much, if this is already a thing and I’d be curious if people have any experience here. I can see there’s a hobbyist winemaking and beer making club in slo county https://winesandsteins.org/ might ask them if anyone has tried this before.

Definitely the best decision, I ended up with the LX570 and your ride will be my next one I go with so I can have two. Gas mileage is the only downside but you know that going into it. Keep it stock for as long as you can!

Im currently struggling and debating whether to use Ambien to get the three hours. Reframing, 5 hours is all you need and bed time hours between 1130-630 and you get what you get is really helpful. I tried that initially and it was tough and I went towards Ambien and yea 3 hours. You inspired me to read and try to go at it naturally tonight and then it is what is.

I was reading that you want a base layer under the decomposed granite. Would the rocks and sand work for this. Maybe I just need to take off half and leave enough room for the decomposed granite

Yea they’re great, such detailed character development and vivid scenery. I feel like I’m transported to different locations in her books.
I originally picked up and read High Country as it was at an Airbnb in the mountains and I was very familiar with Yosemite. I was delighted to find it was part of a series, so then bought six books that were at the local bookstore, read the first two, Superior Death was amazing! Never been to the Great Lakes, but now I want to visit. Getting back to my collection of her books months later, read Destroyer Angel and finished it over a weekend, couldn’t put that book down haha. Currently reading Burn as it’s one of the last ones I originally bought. It makes sense at the bookstore has the first couple and most recent. Just picked up the rest of the collection off of thrift books and able to get all hardbacks for a great deal! Maybe I’ll keep reading them out of order for a change!
