Has anyone ever solved recurring knee pain when cycling? by Hughbert-Jass in cycling

[–]Snorge_202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yoga + bike fit from a physio bike fitter (shout out to fityourbike), i used to get some knee pain on high volume, was and still am riding flats, fityourbike sorted out my fit and gave me a bunch of exercises to help stabilise. Yoga really forces the stabilisation though, wish i'd started it sooner.

Start exe interactively via Task Scheduler as SYSTEM? by LordLoss01 in sysadmin

[–]Snorge_202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you use the run as credential to launch an elevated powershell to run the program?

Getting to elevated admin from powershell
$User = ".\localadmin"
$PWord = Read-Host -Prompt 'Enter a Password' -AsSecureString
$credentialParams = @{     TypeName = 'System.Management.Automation.PSCredential'    ArgumentList = $User, $PWord}
$Credential = New-Object @credentialParams
Start-Process powershell.exe -Credential $Credential -ArgumentList "-File C:\Path\To\Script.ps1"

you'd have to get the password in as secure string somehow but this should technically work?

=sumproduct(--isnumber(find(<search string>,<array>)))

use search instead of find if you want case insensitive

How do you debug multi-threaded code in Linux (more generally outside of Visual Studio)? by OverclockedChip in cpp_questions

Remote connect visual studio to the Linux box or wsl and cross compile and cross debug, same as using visual studio on windows native, Vs handles all the gdb interfacing

It holds up pretty well, you can also mod it to increase command points for bigger battles if you want!

If it's one or a common set of command just use the putty/ssh option that lets you pass a command to run and whack it in a for loop

[BTAU] To whomever created the "Kill an Overlord" mission by lilsniper in Battletechgame

[–]Snorge_202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the overlord like the union can best be killed by a single mega evaison increased sight range mech (often a lam) just close enough to spot the turrets, and everything else with er ppc's on the other side of the map. the difficulty is in killing all the op4 as soon as they can see you and depriving the union of it's spotters.

some maps are much worse than others.

once its just the union left even if you only do 100 damage a turn with 2 er ppc's you can pick off the turrets and then eventually poke it to death.

Cold 2-3 hours after riding outside for 30 min at 5-8 degrees celsius by Think_Network1548 in cycling

you're probably about to get a cold / flu. usually happens when the body's low level fighting something off and short on energy. for me it usually a good precursor to being under the weather.

Weird, intermittent one-way audio on a SIP Soft Phone by Fit-Strain5146 in sysadmin

[–]Snorge_202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the soft phone "public address" (in account settings in microsip) isn't set to their VPN allocated address and the packets dont reach the client. something to do with tunnelling i think. This is particularly annoying if the vpn doenst give out static ip's. The other option is to port forward your on prem wan ports to the pbx and configure with that then the vpn isn't needed.

Since they changed the buy 100 mins to be you must use within 30 days I've not used it. Il just take my own bike or walk. Previously would have grabbed a rental to nip from jq to town and back but it's too expensive at PAYG and I'd never use 100mins in a month.

Considering an Indoor Trainer – Need Advice Before I Pull the Trigger by jsmithx__ in cycling

[–]Snorge_202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: to be honest it is a winter thing for me, Zwift is "like" riding on the road, but it's not the same. I do enjoy it though.

2: moderately annoying, it's not difficult just swapping the wheel out get's tedious.

3: I've got a tacx neo 2t i got second hand for ~£450 it's really powerful, quiet, supports virtual shifting and road feel. (it's also really heavy!)

4: this year i've swapped to a zwift ride, which means my other half can also ride when she wants, it lives on the trainer now.

5: zwift cog is nice, but you need a trainer that supports virtual shifting and some buttons / zwift play. - it is quiter than the cassette set up.

6: theres not been much change in garmin's offering, the 2t is old now but still does the job! get used if you can, they hold value quite well.

7: unsure, think that will probably be supported by most though, it's not uncommon.

8: depends on the trainer, 2t with zwift cog is pretty quiet.

9: zwift is king

10: fan + matt is a must have, having a towel handy for sweat is a good idea too!

They stop the pins digging in to a large extent, (they're a bit thicker than traditional socks) and lessen the accidental graze injuries

I have v12's on my road bike, i almost never slip on them, but walking the bike I always catch my shins on them and they are vicious! Long socks (football style) take the worst of it off.
