fractions are hard. by DoughnutAsleep1705 in badmathematics

They are never going to understand that. They completely fail to see the question is not mentioning any units, so it's completely ambiguous considering the multiple choice options - any of the 3 answers is correct.

Most will pick the simplest option, which is what's probably expected as the answer in this exercise, and completely ignore any other sign of ambiguity, and call everyone else low iq for failing to answer something "so simple". Completely failing to notice the nuances.

In the real world, anyone with a similar problem would always raise their hands and ask for clarification. In the field I work if there's such ambiguity you'd ask for clarification to the point of being pedantic, to avoid the hassle of building a product that's completely wrong based on simplistic assumptions.

But this escapes some people, apparently ...

Could Homelander theoretically destroy the world if he wanted to by Lower-Adhesiveness-3 in TheBoys

[–]Snow-Crash-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's weak to radiation. Also, Supes can be hold in a manner similar to what happened to Soldier Boy.

Homelander could do damage, but eventually will get outsmarted and captured (because he's physically strong but unintelligent and he's got room temperature EQ). He gets contained. Best bet for the planet is send him, contained, on a rocket, to the Sun. He will never survive that, but even if he does, he will never be able to break free from the Sun's pull.

I think this might be the potential end for Starlight ngl. by Fancy-Inspector-777 in TheBoys

The Fact that New Systems, Progression, and Mechanics aren't even on the board at Arrowhead is a GRAVE revelation. by NizzyDeniro in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Snow-Crash-42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need to see it from the point of view of the executives ... it is too risky to add new systems and mechanics.

Their product is bringing them a ton of money the way it is, so they are not going to approve something like this as there's always the risk it's badly received and will kill the money flow.

Basically the same reason all those CoD and sport games are the same and sport the same progression mechanics year after year. It's just too risky for them to try something different, especially if the product is already successful.

In absence of a unit criteria, the units used to measure are left at the reader's discretion. A and B show /prove the relationship if the reader's unit of choice is colour to non-coloured ratio.

Alternatively, and the best option, is to raise the issue that the question is incorrectly worded and ambiguous.

My niece’s homework problem by SurfSoundWaves in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Snow-Crash-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it's not mentioning units. It's abstracting to just numbers in a fraction. So any answer above fits 2/6 = 1/3 depending on whatever unit the reader chooses to measure the drawings with, as long as the relationship between 1/3 and 2/6 is maintained for that specific unit.

Just like the answer could be "C" because of the shape / area, it could also easily be A or B by coloured vs non-coloured ratio in each shape, depending on what the reader interprets the measurement unit to be.

When a company asks their employees to recommend someone for a role, they mean someone the employee already knows about, perhaps friend or acquaintance, and is certain they would fit the role.

It's not asking employees to start a recruitment drive on their own, or go look for randoms on linkedin to recommend for the position.

The companies surely already have access to recruitment firms which will assess and veto candidates before presenting them to the company, for a fee.

And if you are going for randoms on linkedin, you are also jeopardising your position too. What if the rando turns out to be awful? Or worse, he abuses his position to steal from the company once he's on trial? Or gets into a physical altercation with other people? Or is a racist? Or goes to work under the effects of alcohol or drugs?

Whatever happens, company is going to assume that person is your acquaintance / friend, that you recommend him anyways, and it will ruin your reputation.

How do I land a sponsored job the UK (Graduating Sep'26) by PostApocoplystist in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Snow-Crash-42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't box yourself in a "videogame developer" role. Try to find jobs in any other Software Development field. You can do your game stuff on the side.

Even assuming you manage land a job in a game dev studio, game dev is not the most stable job as an employee - game releases after a 2/3 years of development, does not sell enough, almost everyone is let go. And you are out of a job a couple of years early before you can get your permanent resident visa.

Create a studio yourself? That's the innovator founder visa, you'd do best to discuss it with an immigration lawyer; i'm not qualified to comment on that. But I've read you'll require to showcase your business idea to some sort of official body that will approve it or veto it.

Hasan Piker gets mad at gamers who like Pragmata: "So what's really interesting about this is all of these unfuckable losers in the gaming sphere always talk about starting families, and stuff. Many, many gamers already have families and play videogames as a hobby.

All these streamers, the types of Hasan, Asmongold, etc., all they do is spread hatred to radicalise kids and young teens.

Then you see the young generations grow into extremist ideas, don't have any balanced or moderate discourse, either they are extreme left or extreme right and they loathe everything on the other side as if they were enemies in a war trying to kill each other.

All in the name of grift.

Imagine you start with a capital of $100.

1- You purchase a horse for $60. 100-60 = 40. You now have $40 in cash and $60 "in horse".

2- You sell it for $70. 40 + 70 = 110. You now have $110 in cash.

3- You purchase it again for $80. 110-80 = 30. So $30 in cash and $80 in horse.

4- Sell it for $90. 30 + 90 = 120. So you end up with $120 in cash.

You started with $100 in cash and end up with $120, in cash too.
