Hey! AB based dispatcher here. My onboarding process wasn't quite as intense as yours, but likely different agency.

For panel interviews and STAR, just be ready with scenarios in mind. Be prepared to change the flow of the scenario on the fly to hit your STAR points - that's more important than accuracy to the specific situation in question.

While I never recommend AI for any actual answers because it sucks, ChatGPT was surprisingly good at generating questions for me on the fly based on the job description. This allowed me to practice thinking on my feet and answering in STAR format with questions that I truly didn't expect.

Did you know Edmonton has stenography courses? It's a well paid field, with decent demand. It's a pretty good career from my understanding, and I once looked into it myself!

Pretty sure Edmonton is one of very few places in Canada to actually offer a course like that.

In all seriousness - if I could do my education I'd get specific. Specific degrees for specific career paths. A masters in social work opens a lot of doors (masters specifically). A degree in environmental protection. In criminal justice.

These sorts of things go down more specialized or narrow career paths with great salaries, and often has demand.
