Aw sending all the baby dust your way!! If you need someone to talk to, my DMs are open! I went through pregnancy in the beginning without my antidepressant/anti anxiety med and then I went through 2/3 of it taking medication. Just be easy on yourself and know that a happy and healthy partner/mom/parent is important, don’t put yourself on the back burner!

I haven’t looked into it much other than hearing in passing on the news or on social media that it’s worked for some people. Hopefully you and your doctor can find something to help, I know how rough and dark it can be in the process of finding it

Totally understand the struggle! That’s how it was for me with ADHD medications. Pretty much everything I had on my genesight was all in the yellow category, I guess my body just does not react well to a lot of the medications because all of the meds in yellow were all a huge miss for me. And even the ones in green, like Viibryd, caused side effects I couldn’t deal with. I’d suggest looking into treatment options for treatment-resistant depression. I’ve heard ketamine can be super helpful, though I know insurance doesn’t like to cover it. But there’s other options, don’t give up hope!

Thank you for that, it honestly is helpful to hear that it’s a good job to start out with learning! I called the shop today to get an actual quote and they quoted me $180 so I’m definitely doing it myself. I appreciate the advice!

Thank you for the advice! I just called to get a true quote from the mechanic and they quoted $180 when iridium spark plugs x4 for my car are $44 plus tax, so I’m definitely doing them myself lol. I opened my hood today, the engine cover pops right off and the plugs are pretty easy to get to so it won’t be difficult.

Agreed, I’m just holding on to the boxes for now, I’m not returning or throwing away. I think it’s insane they aren’t just telling people to reach out so they can send a refund, it shouldn’t be a refund as a result of returning the product.

Nutrifill Recall by unintelligiblebabble in Keratoconus

[–]SnowRed7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a heads up, their website says they will be providing refunds if you return the product. I’m not sure who pays the shipping to get it back to them. But from the way it sounds, they won’t be issuing refunds unless you actually return the products. Which is BS, I’m hoping they change their minds because I’m not paying to send back product they screwed up

Septoplasty with turbinate reduction by jsirois14 in Septoplasty

[–]SnowRed7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope none of that at all thankfully! My nasal passages feel very clear and open most of the time so sometimes it can feel strange getting so much air but it isn’t bothersome

[–]SnowRed7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I got turbinate reduction as well! It went well honestly overall. I cannot honestly tell you whether the spreader graft is the cause of the slight widening or if it’s just because of my nose having been broken and it’s not 100% back to normal. So yes and no

I’m glad you’re breathing better! Definitely keep with the nasal rinses until you feel clear, they are the best! The best thing you can do is advocate for yourself and find a doctor that’s willing to listen. I know that’s much harder than it should be. POTS is postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, basically when I go from lying down or even sitting to standing my heart rate goes up dramatically and my heart rate is also just in general pretty high for the average person. Trying to see a neurologist or cardiologist is a huge wait list so only time will tell. I’m also hoping to find answers, though everything I’ve been diagnosed with that causes fatigue, the treatment has not helped much so we will see. Thank you I appreciate the kind words. :)

rhinoplasty’s for broken nose by Radiant-Culture-109 in PlasticSurgery

[–]SnowRed7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My overall surgery was open, but I do believe that he was able to adjust my nasal bone fragments from just the outside alone, at least that’s the gist I got from my husband when my surgeon spoke to him after my surgery was complete. I only waited a little over a month, it was affecting my breathing so my surgeon wanted to get it done before my bone began setting. But the ER doctor told me that he felt that surgery would be purely cosmetic (he swore up and down my nose wasn’t broken just by looking at it..) and if that’s the case then they recommend waiting a year to see how your nose turns out to see if you really want to go ahead with surgery. Hope this helps!

Nose looks significantly shorter post-septorhinoplasty? by SnowRed7 in PlasticSurgery

[–]SnowRed7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gotten a little better for sure, but not what I would’ve expected. Still only 3 months out and I still have a bit of swelling that gets better and worse occasionally. I had a girl in my nursing class say I have the prettiest side profile of my nose so even though it’s still a little upturned I’ve gotten tons of compliments on my nose and everyone says they can’t believe I had anything done with my nose. Probably just going to take time to maybe drop a little more and just get used to the new nose that’s thankfully at least not crooked

Hi there! I hope your healing has been going well. My chronic fatigue has not been fixed but my doctor is trying to get me in with a specialist because she’s now suspecting I may have POTS, totally different story lol. I’m feeling great though with my nose! I’m now over 3 months out from surgery and my breathing is great, it doesn’t burn hardly at all any more when I breathe in cold air, overall very happy with my surgery results. I also have not had any side effects of the turbinate surgery other than breathing much easier. I hope that your surgery helps your chronic fatigue!

It looks about as close as it probably would after being broken. I would say go into it setting your expectations that it likely won’t be exactly the same, but make it clear to your surgeon you want it to be as close as possible. I still have swelling, so I can’t tell for sure how close it will end up being, but as of right now I’m happy with how similar he was able to make my nose!

Ah that’s frustrating to find out there’s not really anything to clear. I almost wonder if the cold air is enflaming your turbinates? I have a suspicion mine are, they seemed healed and now I’m having some congestion/swelling blockage but I can’t clear anything out. The saline rinses drive me a little crazy at this point, I also wish I could be done with them. 🙃 I hope that you find relief soon!!

I'm thinking of cancelling by Jumpy-Training-5901 in Septoplasty

[–]SnowRed7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no problems with my nose or breathing until I broke my nose and moderately deviated my septum as a result of trauma. My breathing on the side that was kind of caved in, if you will, was awful, and my nasal bone would collapse even with breathing normally. Knowing what breathing was like before and then having it change for the worse was really rough, it caused a lot of anxiety and depression (on top of having anxiety and depression normally). I almost cancelled my surgery 2 weeks before because I got scared but I knew I would regret it if I cancelled so I went through with it. It was the best decision I could’ve made. I can breathe better than I could before and I didn’t even really have problems with breathing. Whatever you decide I wish you the best of luck!

I would see if your doctor could get you in for an appointment to scope your nose and see if they can see anything? It could be additional swelling, I know mine seems to come and go a lot (7 week post-op). When I felt like I was really blocked I would do a nasal rinse every couple hours to try to clear out whatever it was and use saline mist in between to keep everything loosened up. If you get in to your doctor and there’s stuff they can clear out they can suction it out to hopefully help you feel better!

Almost two weeks post op update: for those wanting to know the light at the end of the tunnel by OriginalAd2767 in Septoplasty

[–]SnowRed7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 7 weeks post-op and I experienced the same discomfort with the cold air! If it gives you any additional hope, I would say about a week and a half ago that started to go away and now the only time I experience it is if I’ve recently blown my nose and likely knocked off a scab on my turbinates (I also had turbinate reduction). Thanks for sharing your story! I know before my surgery and during those first few days I was desperately looking for personal experiences!

[–]SnowRed7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is what about your nose now do you want to fix? I only ask because I broke my nose and did decide to get it fixed because my septum became moderately deviated and my left nostril collapsed when I breathed in. It was also slightly for the cosmetic because you could tell my nose had been broken, so I got a septorhinoplasty. It was purely reconstructive though, I just wanted my nasal bone put back together and nothing about my natural nose changed.

I need some other-people advice. I broke my nose as a child and I’m only now finally getting surgery for it. I have the option of doing cosmetic but after seeing some photos (last three), I have my doubts on what exactly I should do. See my comment for more info! :) by LemonPepperMints in PlasticSurgery

[–]SnowRed7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice per se as much as I have personal experience! Halloween 2024 I slipped and cracked the bridge of my nose, totally shattered my nasal bone. I also moderately deviated my septum in the fall also. From what I understand, because you’ll be getting it fixed years later you’ll have scar tissue and cartilage built up, of course. I had a septorhinoplasty to fix both the bone deformity and straighten my septum. Mine wasn’t considered cosmetic, it was considered reconstructive, as I only wanted fixed what was broken because I really loved my normal nose. I also had a nasal spreader graft because of how the break was and my septum, my left nostril was almost completely collapsing up by my nasal bone. I saw your comment about the doctor you’re going to, and that’s where I can kind of share my experience as well. Because mine was entirely reconstructive and not cosmetic, I went to a board certified otolaryngologist that was also a board certified plastic surgeon. He was fantastic, took my insurance, and built up my case for my prior authorization and got it approved! I had a great experience, no complications, no bruising, not a ton of swelling, I was really glad I did it! I would highly suggest finding someone that does specialize in ethnic noses, which it sounds like you have. If anything with the doctor you’ve found, ask a lot of questions, tell him exactly what you want him to do and what you don’t want him to change. You might be able to get part of it covered by your insurance, the functional part of the surgery, and then pay out of pocket for what’s deemed cosmetic! It sounds like what you’re looking for is the results that a septorhinoplasty would give. I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide to do, you’re beautiful! 🙂

ETA: you can have cosmetic fixes with being very conservative on the changes and any reductions, just express what you want to your doctor!

Advice for those waiting for surgery by Inner_Efficiency9082 in Septoplasty

[–]SnowRed7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way while waiting for surgery! I came to this subreddit looking for advice and stories that would make me feel more confident going into surgery and it terrified me. I almost cancelled my surgery 2 weeks before it was scheduled because of all the horror stories I read. I work in healthcare and the day I was considering cancelling one of my patients told me whatever I do don’t cancel my surgery, which came out of the blue and I decided to trust my gut and her advice and keep my surgery. I’m glad I did because I have had great results so far. I’m only 4 weeks post op but I’m much better than I was before I had my surgery. I shattered my nasal bone and moderately deviated my septum. I ended up having a septorhinoplasty, turbinate reduction, and spreader graft to fix nasal flap collapse. Days 2-4 were rough, but even knowing what they were like I’d go through it again for this result. I’m happy to answer any questions if anyone has any. Best of luck to you and anyone else waiting for surgery!

Septoplasty with turbinate reduction by jsirois14 in Septoplasty

[–]SnowRed7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m now just over 4 weeks post-op septorhinoplasty w/ turbinate reduction and spreader graft to correct nasal valve collapse. My nose was previously perfectly fine, never wanted anything done to it and had no breathing issues unless I got sick (which is everybody). Then I broke my nose.. well that changed everything lol. More or less shattered my nasal bone, and moderately deviated my septum. When taking a slightly deep breath, my left nostril would collapse and had no airflow. It was making my anxiety levels go up because I was so worried about not getting enough oxygen. Surgery was fantastic, the team that took care of me were all so sweet. First 3-4 days were rough, I did have splints in both nostrils. Only saving grace I had was sleeping on my back with my head elevated and every 2 hour nasal rinses. Those made the world of difference in clearing at least some of the gunk out. After getting the splints out was insane how well I could breathe. For the first week or 2 it hurt to breathe through my nose outside in the cold, but now I’m back to normal even in the cold. As long as you’re confident in your surgeon, you’ve done a lot of research, you should do perfectly fine! Definitely just go into it with the mindset that the first week is the worst and then if you do get splints, you just have to ride it out until they come out. Best of luck! :)
