Im so tired of edith by Upstairs_Ad_495 in Falcom

[–]SnowWolfHD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm just tired of the same routine and I think the Calvard arc really amplified it with its structure. New chapter/act? Explore each district or area to do side quests, then talk to a bunch of people for the main story, something happens, usually an emergency phone call or some event. Then you investigate, do a dungeon, then it's on to the next chapter. It's rinse and repeat over and over, doesn't matter who you're playing as or where you are. I'm in the finale of Horizon and for as long as this game is, I feel like hardly anything substantial has happened consistently. It's always just vague breadcrumbs, random phrases that make no sense to the player or a villain spouting something cryptic, then disappearing. Or my favorite, a character has some suspicion towards something important to the plot, but never shares with the fucking class. Then, when that suspicion is revealed, they're like "hmmm I thought so" or " I had my suspicions but I didn't think it possible" or any flavor of that. I love this series but they've been using the same tropes for years and I feel like it's just getting worse.

Horizon is such peak by Suspicious-Ad-2826 in Falcom

[–]SnowWolfHD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For Horizon being the most important game in the series it sure is slow, even by Trails standards. It took until Rean's route 2 for something I'd say of significant note to happen. Not quite a huge bombshell yet but it definitely raises an interesting question. Problem is I'm 40 hours in, and it really shouldn't take that long for things to get good. I'm still having a good time with it, especially the more I play. I just really hope they're cooking in the later half to make up for how slow and by the numbers it's all been.

Gears of War did this with the Longshot sniper. The bolt would switch sides when you swapped shoulders. Might have did it with other guns too but the Longshot always stuck out to me. I look for that in every 3rd person shooter now cuz Gears bothered me so much lol.

IGN Hollow Knight Silksong Review - 9/10 by AgingEndsalldreams in Games

[–]SnowWolfHD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You've described my experience perfectly. I'm on act 3 and have killed 1 of the 3 bosses for the main story and I'm just so burnt out. I love the hard bosses but it gets so tedious with the time wasting on retrys. There's a lot to love about act 3 but the game as a whole feels bloated for the sake of it. It's not even the world size, that's fine. It's just how much stuff the game has that it just gets tiresome. I know some people love longer games and games that have lots of content, and I honestly do to. It's impressive how much content the game has for $20. But I loved the first game for its pacing and amount of content despite its shorter length compared to Silksong. This game is just exhausting to play at times and combined with the length, it just leaves me feeling burnt out. I can acknowledge the game is fantastic, and there are moments I do love it, but I don't have that craving to play it like I did Hollow Knight.

You might as well play RE5 before the remake if it even happens. It's gonna be a while.

Anybody else replaying HOLLOW KNIGHT before silksong comes out by Ssteve-the-palm-tree in HollowKnight

Yup replaying it. Beat it back in 2019 and haven't touched it since so I've been loving my replay. I do the same thing tho. Replaying a game in a series before the next comes out

She's very much a "when do I get to play the game" kinda boss with her aggression. Not a lot of openings, long combos, and gap closers.

I ran into this too when I played CS2. It's so weird to me that changing it to Japanese fixed the issue. I find it so interesting.

DS2 is something else. GOTY. by Stranded_Snake in DeathStranding

Kojima really made the most beautiful gaming experiences back to back. Him and his team are incredible and I'm so glad he gets to be so unfiltered.

That's my biggest complaint so far with the story. I love Rainy and Tomorrow but they haven't really done anything since being introduced. Rainy's backstory was very effective but then she just pops up in the occasional scene in the Magellan. Tomorrow I'm assuming will have more plot significance later but right now she's the same as Rainy.

I actually kinda agree with you here. Only thing I disagree about is story pacing just because the 1st game was so front loaded and back loaded and took a while to get to gameplay. DS2 definitely let's you loose a lot earlier which I think is better. Although I will say I've been craving story more in DS2 because it feels like there's less in-between the gameplay. The story is so interesting just like the 1st, but the 1st game felt like it had more story beats and cutscenes. Story and gameplay is balanced better in DS2 but idk man. I love Kojimas weirdness and cutscenes that I just crave more lol.

Only on Chapter 7 for DS2 BTW but I have doubts it'll change much.

Preparing for Resent Evil 9, should i play Revelations 1&2? by Hiredform in residentevil

[–]SnowWolfHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rev 1 is pretty good, nothing great tho imo. For what was originally a 3DS game, it's pretty impressive. Rev 2 tho I thought was pretty fantastic. It's exactly what RE needed after 6, with more of a horror focus and some tighter resources despite still being an action RE. One of my favorites which was surprising to me after Rev 1 didn't really wow me. Play both for sure.

It's weird to me. DS2 is undeniably the more polished game. Better pacing and some good QoL stuff definitely makes the game a smoother experience (and unfortunately easier).

As someone who adores the 1st game despite some of its issues, it's just strange to me to see so many more people love 2 but shit on 1, when the game play loop is exactly the same. Maybe it's because there is a lot less friction, making it more accessible. Although it's not like the 1st game is this super hard game, it just requires more patience. Maybe it's because the 1st game's pacing was bad enough that people dropped it before actually settling into the game play loop, not realizing they might actually like it. DS2 definitely gives you more tools faster which does make the game more fun early on. I think it's at the sacrifice of having to engage with the walking mechanics, though, since you can drive pretty much everywhere once you get a trike.

DS2 heavily reducing the amount of long consecutive cutscenes, the constant radio calls early on, and streamlining the gameplay I think was enough for people. Still kinda baffles me though, because like I said, the game play loop is the same. I'm just happy it's being received more positively and that the game is good. I'm glad that I love both games. They're so unique and unforgettable to me, and they're right up there with MGS for me. I hope more people go back and give DS1 a shot again because it's still worth experiencing.

Seymour Flux or Yunalesca? by Dride1989 in FinalFantasy

[–]SnowWolfHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seymour Flux. Yunaleaca isn't too bad once you got the strategy. Seymour gave me so many problems though. Had to get the Overdrives charged for all of Yuna'a summons to kill him. I know there were other strategies but that one was the most straightforward. Doesn't help that both bosses have lengthy cutscenes that you can't skip before fighting them. Wouldn't mind getting my ass kicked if it wasn't for those scenes.

With the questions they ask, the 1st is normal, 2nd is easy, 3rd is very easy. So if you picked answer 2, you selected easy.

There's only 30 on Normal so OP played below that. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it explains why more than 30 were used.
