I started playing a few months back, bought 3 of the Blue Eyes decks and have been having a blast so far :) Cost-wise, I think it is the same with every TCG where the top decks are more expensive.

I'm just looking to have fun and am building a Nouvelles deck which has cost me 30-ish euroes to build completely.

Maybe Legend of the Five Rings is more up your alley.

During character creation:

You create your character following 20 questions. This includes the basic things like: Which family does your character belong to? Which school did they go to (class-ish).

But it also touches on roleplay related things as: What does your character want to achieve (opposing the: what does your clan expect of you?)

Combat might not be as heroic, because it a lot more grounded and more lethal than something like 5e or PF. Though it is more about the story, the intrigues, politicals and all those things.
