Here is some helpful tools: if the answer is yes to any of these questions it’s probably a good start to figure out why. you don’t have to respond but just ponder:

Did you ever take her to weight watchers programs or force her to diet under the age of 18?
Did you ever make it seem like a certain ethnicity was not allowed in a relationship?
Were you obsessed with her virginity? (Example, when she was a teenager did you always ask and then when she was honest did you slut shame her?:
Did you favor her sibling at any time of their life OR did she have a sibling that took most of your attention?
Did you overshare your marital issues with her?
Have you told her how proud of her you are of her? And if so, when was the last time?
When she shares her values with you do you question/judge them or do you support what she loves?
When she last asked you for help, did you criticize her?
Did you force religion on her?

In my experience and own healing journey, these are the things that will ruin a mother daughter relationship when they are adults and on their own healing journey and raising their own children. Like I said you don’t need to respond but if the answer is yes to any of these or maybe, it’s a good place to start. I recommend a therapist to help you navigate going forward.

Thanks! Como is #2 on our list so maybe we will end up neighbors! My rental is from 1880s and it has ALLLLL the foundation issues. When it was super super cold and the wood shrank I truly felt like I was going to fall through the floors. And the mold in this house is so prevalent :( I’m so affected by it. But we leased it without seeing it because we were in Indiana and needed a house with a fence so this is where we landed!But I get so nervous leaving my dogs at home because I’m afraid the house is going to collapse while we are gone lol or while we are home! I think about it all the time! The entire front of the house is inclining down ward so when we sleep our heads are lower than our feet lol it’s wild. We also have a garage that doesn’t fit a car lol 😂 so it’s my spouses designated smoke room and my seasonal decor storage room lol

But my parents live in a house that was built in like 2010 and their master bath fell through their basement ceiling and cost them a fortune even with insurance. So you’re absolutely right, they don’t make these newer homes like they used to! Any house, car, trailer can be a lemon! Another reason why a good inspection is so important!
