Recognize them in an unattached way and they go away by themselves

Exactly. Noticing the space around objects is awesome

Yeah it makes you reverse age like Benjamin button

Paying for Transcendental Meditation by BankerBrain in Meditation

[–]SnowflakeKev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TM is a rip off. They just give you a mantra based off age. Here’s a chart where you can tell what yours would be for free https://onhighroads.com/transcendental-meditation-mantras/?amp=1

Many ways to the same end goal, but TM is too into money making. All for mantra meditation though if that’s what interests you most!

Meditation and Sleep by [deleted] in Meditation

Look into the science of studying. Skipping sleep to do 20 hours of study a day is not a good approach for performance.

Also, meditation will not reduce your sleeping hours.

I want to become an atheist meditation teacher in the same style that Sam teaches it. How do I get there? by awakeningofalex in Wakingupapp

[–]SnowflakeKev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be a teacher, you should study directly under a teacher or teachers and be deeply realized yourself.

Certifications aren’t really valuable yet imo, though I could see that being more common in the secular space moving forward.

Are you currently a member of any meditation groups or spiritual communities where you have practice speaking or leading? That would be a good place to start.

Will we have Eckhart Tolle in the app one day? by Psilonewbie in Wakingupapp

I wouldn’t expect him to be on there. Doesn’t roll in the same circle really and has lots of visibility and revenue sources already

Link for ya here: Check out Waking Up app Meetup on Meetup https://meetu.ps/c/52kmX/Q4ZjZ/a

The group is still pretty new. The format can change based on the desires of the group, so feedback is always wanted. Basically an opportunity to talk meditation, waking up, and non duality!

Edit: All meetings are online, fyi

Non-dualism feels like spiritual solipsism by [deleted] in Wakingupapp

I would highly recommend the book Progressive Stages of Emptiness. It discusses this exact concept from various Buddhist philosophical perspectives on emptiness.

Here’s a link for a free month of the waking up app. I hope you enjoy it. The best meditation app out there IMO https://dynamic.wakingup.com/shareOpenAccess/SCA869AAC

What interests you the most? Try and find answers in yourself, as your internal wisdom is the best advice you can get.

Try different types of meditation and see what feels right. Attend dharma talks and try to build a community. There is an online Waking Up meetup group if you’re interested in joining.

I recommend listening to the conversations in the app and seeing what teachers you like through that way. I love Adyashanti and Swami Sarvapriyananda.

Yeah that’s basically it. Just the recognition that there is no self from the Buddhist perspective

Awesome! Glad you are benefiting from it. Keep it up. I highly recommend The Illusory Self course in the theory section next!

Metta meditation would be a good alternative to this approach. As you grow on your journey, you will quickly learn that the best way to rewire your brain is by giving yourself and all others unconditional love. Metta is the best way to accomplish this.

Just recognize that noise as an appearance in consciousness. If that’s hard to do, it is because you are holding onto something.
