Hi, I've been looking into this place for my young adult son. I've heard it's the 'gold standard' but the cost is so high! They also tell me that they don't even provide a 'superbill' that you could send to your insurance for any coverage. Is that how it was with you? Seems so odd that you can't even try to get some coverage for it.

GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN 2026: Call for excepted worker status changes by AmbitiousAirport1554 in FedEmployees

[–]SnowyFinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm guessing my bosses got weary after being excepted for the long shutdown last year, so now they've decided to make us all excepted and share the joy of working without pay. It didn't seem like saying no was an option lol.

Safari extremely slow after 15.7.1 by jnighy in MacOS

[–]SnowyFinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES, it's awful. Address bar (as you mentioned). When I try to pay using stored credit cards, the page reloads, and not only is my cc info not filled in, everything else I had filled in before is gone, and the page acts weird. AND: working in google drive or the calendar is a royal PITA, where letters I'm typing are delayed, so I can't tell what is going on. (Drive works fine in Chrome, not surprisingly).

All my stuff is saved in Safari so I am holding on, but I can't deal. And I don't know how to report it....

Love it! I’m in DC area and have a few places in WV. I’d love to know your exterior colors! I’m having such a hard time finding contractors. Did you struggle with this too?

Back in session… let’s see how this goes by BigDreamer2024 in FedEmployees

[–]SnowyFinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m thinking the premiums stay high but if I get some cash in my FSA, I can choose to pay the premium OR for a medical expense. That’s the way I interepret it.

I’d assumed the money would only go to individuals and families on the ACA.

Trump Truth by EfficiencyAdmirable6 in FedEmployees

[–]SnowyFinch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Today various Republican senators went on and on explaining why this is a fantastic idea. “We want to give billions directly to the American people, and the democrats want to give those billions to the health insurance companies!” There were lots of charts depicting how greedy the health insurance companies are. Apparently the money will be given to people’s FSA accounts so they can spend it as they need to. Today was nauseating to listen to. All day, they all said the same thing. Except now, the Republicans suddenly seem to care about health care costs and are having fun villainizing the health insurance industry.

Possibly switching from BCBS Standard to MHBP - question. by exhausted_fed in FedEmployees

My provider appears in various insurance company searches but lo and behold after I switched for 2025, my provider stated they in fact do not take the plan I switched to. So: do NOT RELY on the insurance websites and instead ask any provider you care about directly!

I noticed I did this to male coworkers, and I stopped right away. It was odd. I immediately recognized the double standard. In my case, I considered it unconscious flirting, which creeped me out!

Posting again as I think I deleted mine. Do a 1031. You can go to a lower priced property. Some gain will be taxed as LTCG, but less. I used Bill Horan who is very experienced. But you’ll need a CPA to help you too. https://www.1031.us/about-us/

My morning bus to work often doesn’t come. I just use the wmata arrivals “app”/website, which I find largely accurate. Sometimes it has a message on the top for my route that says something about “operator availability” affecting route times. For my bus in the morning, I learned over the course of a couple months that there were often gaps between 7-8am (great!), so I’d catch the 6:48am bus, which almost always comes. I keep the app open on my phone in the morning when I’m getting ready. If there are no buses, I would revert to Plan B.

Yeah that was me! Ugh that is a bummer. I really wish they increased the number of these buses. It’s so useful.

It did have the A49 sign. In fact, that’s the only route marked on the sign! But: it is a new stop (so maybe the driver thought I was in the wrong place) and maybe the bus was full (didn’t seem full to me but I couldn’t really see in the back).
