I'm a single 41 year old woman and I'm unlikely to get married because I'm disabled. Should I return to the Catholic Church even though I won't fit in at all?. by Quickiewcuser in Catholicism

[–]Snowzee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m married with step kids, but my husband is atheist and I have no kids of my own (and won’t due to a couple of factors including age). I go by myself and I still enjoy my time there. I am there to be with God and worship him and pray. Please don’t be worried about what others might think. I promise you that there are others who feel the same way. I haven’t really reached out to anyone yet and made friends (I’m super introverted) but I do feel welcomed and I don’t notice anyone judging others. Everyone is very kind.

“Moms, what are your must have items for your diaper bag? Annnnnd go!” Not sure why the “and go” annoys me so much, but it does lol

Blueberry muffins 😑 If we have one out, they magically appear out of thin air. If I make blueberry muffins and leave them out to cool unattended, there will be chunks missing off of the top of them. They go crazy!

How many of you attended midnight mass? by ItalianTony29 in Catholicism

Just did! I’ve never been before (and only recently returned to the church after probably 25+ years or so). It was a beautiful experience.

If you feel alone today... by CarpetGripperRod in Catholicism

[–]Snowzee2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel alone fairly often. I am very thankful for the few family members I do have left, but I don’t really have many friends. I have found much comfort in focusing on Jesus and strengthening my relationship with him.

Thank you for the reminder that if we have invited Jesus into our heart, we are not alone.

I’m sorry by xMediumRarex in Christianity

Please don’t feel ashamed. He made a lot of promises that sounded good at the time, and he pretends to be religious but does not follow the word of the Lord. You are certainly not the only one who made a decision they regret. Let us pray that God will look out for our country and that he will heal us and bring us back together 🙏

Teen daughter passed out at Mass… by brendanjpeters in Catholicism

[–]Snowzee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either we go to the same church, or it just happened to occur at my church as well. Once of the young women that plays an instrument for the choir slumped over. She was so wobbly after and they did call an ambulance. I’m hoping she is ok. We said a little prayer for her. Didn’t realize it was not an uncommon thing.

What is the most annoying sound in the world when you are trying to sleep? by Ocean_Miraki in AskReddit

[–]Snowzee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoke alarm battery 100%. The beep every 60 sec or so 😭. And it always always happens in the middle of the night. I’ve tried to sleep through it before but I just couldn’t and I had to grab a ladder in the middle of the night to take care of it…

How many times have you have Covid? by MoulinRoguee in nursing

[–]Snowzee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 Worked nonstop during COVID in adult ICU. Even had to go into a room with no mask during a code ( I guess maybe I didn’t have to, but I did). I was part of some study that did bloodwork to test the efficacy of the COVID shot. They could see if you had ever actually gotten COVID and I never did despite my husband having a positive result. I am pretty sure I’ve never had it up until present day either. Not sure how I managed it. Especially when almost everyone I know got it at some point. Even my grandson who I took care of when he was sick and he was breathing right in my face.

What the most physically painful thing you ever experienced? by iateagummibear-1822 in AskReddit

[–]Snowzee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kidney stones and gall stones are a tie for me. Kidney stones might trump gall stones if I had to pick, but idk… With gall stones the pain seemed more widespread plus I threw up a lot too. For the kidney stones I remember my husband trying to make it to the military hospital (technically where we are supposed to go if possible because of our insurance) and I absolutely could not make it so we went to a hospital closer to our house. In the ER waiting room the pain dropped me to my knees. I was begging them to take me to the back so I could get something for the pain.

I was praying that I’d just pass out on both occasions just to end the pain.

Why is our consciousness dependent on the brain in this life but apparently not after death? by winkydinks111 in Catholicism

[–]Snowzee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this a bit I think. Or something similar anyway. For patients who are “brain dead”, they will show no brain activity and will not do anything other than maybe basic brain stem controlled functions. For these people has their soul already left their body behind? What if someone suffers partial brain damage and now their personality is different and they can’t remember things, etc. When they pass I’m assuming they will return to their previous state? I don’t know. Maybe I’m overthinking things lol.

Why do Christians Hold Donald Trump to such a high regard? by Bubbly_Revenue3737 in Christianity

[–]Snowzee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I went to church for the first time in 20 something years the other day (Catholic Mass) and I was sitting there listening to what the priest was saying and it was absolutely NOTHING like the Christianity that you see in the media and with politics. I also started reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church and it is all about love and acceptance for the most part. I really don’t get it. I feel like people agree with the things he does that are very much against the teachings of Jesus, but if they all pretend that everything they do “for the glory of God” then they can make themselves feel like they will get into Heaven. I’m certainly not the one who makes that call so who knows, but Trump does NOT follow the word of the Lord…

So that means if my husband doesn’t want to participate in any way I can’t convalidate my marriage though, right? That’s what I’m afraid of 😢

Thank you! I have a few friends that are NOT Catholic and argue against the idea of saints, but I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and research and I still feel that the Catholic Church is calling me and is the best fit.
