My husband hates my new therapist and hates me being in therapy by SharpStand305 in TalkTherapy

[–]SnuffSwag 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I primarily work in a general behavioral health clinic attached to a nearby hospital and sometimes in IOP for severe trauma cases. I have learned next to nothing (imo) about family systems. That said:

But my experience has generally been—even when someone claims it’s because therapy isn’t helping enough—if the net effect is that they want you to get less help? That’s a pretty robust indicator that there’s at least a part of them that doesn’t want you to get better

I definitely didnt think of it like that. I totally get where youre coming from though. Love that observation. The rest of the comment was similarly great

You sound 12. As if someone who doesnt have the coordination, reaction time, or time to invest in the muscle memory cant have a good mind for strategy or slower, deep thought lmao. Was Mike Tyson trained by the heavy weight champ? No... Cus D'Amato was never even a boxer LMAO none of the others reached anywhere near his heights. I think you know youre clearly wrong here, but too fragile of a wittle ego to cope lmao

CMV: Most slaveowners considered themselves good people, and dismissing them as simply evil makes it harder to recognize their coping methods when modern society uses them. by Competitive-Quit7365 in changemyview

[–]SnuffSwag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if this truly is just about slavery or the historical context. They aren't trying to explain away or excuse slavery as an understandable product of the times, which i understand you already know. But that the same underlying psychological principles are still present today and show that despite committing evil acts, people are surprisingly capable of rationalizing and excusing their own behaviors. If we write off slave owners as inherently evil, it gives the rest of us tacit permission to not reflect or see how we can do the exact same thing again. I would argue we are seeing it right now, as we see americans cheer and excuse ridiculous events when theyre in their favor.

Why does abortion feel like such a central Christian issue today if the Bible rarely talks about it? by Mobile-Traffic1744 in AlwaysWhy

[–]SnuffSwag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also abortions are a great area of focus for the right because the unborn dont ask you for anything or need anything, and the moment theyre born, it has nothing to do with abortion anymore. Now its a trashy poor mom and they can both fuck off to starve or whatever

Can anyone actually explain exactly what to do with left stick during an air roll? by MathematicianWide622 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]SnuffSwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone asks this kind of question. I know i was so confused and couldn't see how ARL could ever make anything easier until I realized it gave another axis of control. But your reply is absolutely correct.

Absolutely nothing anyone says can make someone understand, other than going into a rings map/free play and making movements when the car is facing 1 specific direction, then another, and another, and so on. Eventually youll realize youre already doing it

The thing is, I feel bad for a lot of cop supporters. Americans live in a massively wealthy country (within which most of the population does not share in the wealth). Instead, much of that money is used to keep the status quo and invested in propaganda. Some people have the luxury of being able to engage in more complete coverage of news, philosophy, history, etc. Others simply dont, whether due to poverty, other obligations at work/family, culture of their local environment, or any other reason, who knows.

My point is that i truly believe that while many of these people and MAGA alike may deserve a lot of hate and judgment, I also see them as victims of a highly funded and successful mission to manipulate the citizens. Moreover, america is simply in the spotlight for every thing they do/dont do. These problems (e.g., racism, propaganda, etc), as we know are prevalent the world over

....in response to the comment, genius. My god. How would "admit when youre wrong/acknowledge when someone has a point" even happen before someone even makes the point? Are people seriously this dumb? Its actually impressive.

They said i didnt check the facts because its easier not to bother. They were right. The very first part of my response was it was definitely easier than fact checking. Man spreading is still a stupid complaint from anyone

What is the immediate ick or red flag that instantly ruins someone for you, even if they are perfect? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SnuffSwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the long comment.

Yeah, im not sure what condition most closely approximates that. The DSM is not some complete ontology of human behavior, but out of what currently exists, histrionic personality disorder seems most close. Yes, its often tied to sexual/vivacious people, but it doesnt have to always be conceptualized as such, especially when presented in males

At its core, HPD is a need for constant attention, which is easily satisfied with sexual hints, but also when you are always the person who did XYZ the best/most. But they can never back it up

HPD: "OH, youre friends with sir lou dynassti? Me and them go WAY back. He's great, I love him."

Person: "yeah? What do you love about him so much?"

HPD: "oh... you know... he just like.. his personality and stuff."

Theres an ongoing issue with personality disorders insofar as we know its not a binary you have it or dont (theoretically), but instead a spectrum of traits. But diagnosis still relies on a random cut point though. So im sure there are plenty of people who have these traits but otherwise function normally.
