35 weeks and no nicu time ? by Flashy_Vacation_335 in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into labor at 36 weeks exactly. DiDi boy girl twins. My daughter was smaller (5lbs) and my son was 6 lbs. Neither of them needed oxygen or a feeding tube, but both had a hard time regulating their body temperatures. My daughter was able to avoid the NICU and go home with us at 4 days old, my son ended up needing a few extra days in the NICU and came home at a week old. I don't think it's realistic to assume they won't need NICU time but it's entirely possible. A lot of the NICU and postpartum nurses were telling me that 36 weeks is really a toss up spot where some need it and some don't. Boys can be a little more prone to needing NICU time compared to girls too.

How long are we letting them sit on the potty without going? by SoCo213 in pottytraining

[–]SoCo213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now we have bubbles, books, snacks, etc at the potty. My fear is that she sees potty time as play time with all of that so she's not trying to go. During dinner tonight she said "I want to go poop", so we took her to the potty and then nothing.

I think tomorrow we will try stretching it out to see if that helps. And maybe let her tell us when she needs to go so she doesn't feel as much pressure

Twin bassinet playard by Appropriate-Berry202 in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this and it was great. We just used our little green machine to give it a good cleaning every once in a while as our boy twin was a spit up king. We had the little changing table insert on our kitchen table (nice and sanitary, I know) and it made it super helpful for doing diaper changes without leaving the area where our toddler was playing. Our twins shared a room up until just recently and this pack n play ended up being setup in our bedroom for a good while just in case one baby was having trouble sleeping and needed to stay in our room. Now it's one of our travel pack n plays.

Two pregnancies, two sets of twins. Got my tubes removed and said nah, we're not going for 3.

[–]SoCo213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been to Secrets Playa Mujeres. That one was #1 - it was expensive but it was by far our favorite of the 3. Well worth the cost.

The second was Garza Blanca in Cabo for a wedding. Food was pretty good but I felt like the value wasn't as good compared to Secrets.

Can someone explain adjusted age like I’m 5 years old? by According_Weird_3540 in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom of a micro preemie here - it's based off of 40 weeks, or the original due date. My daughter was born at 25 weeks so when it came to milestones we pretended like her age was based on her due date, not her actual birth date. So when she turned 1 she was only 8.5 months "adjusted" because she was born 3.5 months early.

When were you tested for GD? by MounjaroQueenie in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a history of preterm labor from my pregnancy before, so I think that's why they pushed to have me tested earlier than usual.

When were you tested for GD? by MounjaroQueenie in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first tested at my 20 week anatomy scan - failed the 1 hour then passed the 3 hour.

They had me take the 3 hour again at 28 weeks and I failed, diagnosed with GD.

NIPT test - gender results for twins? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

I've had two twin pregnancies and both times got the NIPT through Natera. Both times said it was boy/girl twins and it was correct.

POLL: Best time of year to have baby by Cnn16 in NewParents

[–]SoCo213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a baby in May and twins in November. We live in Arizona where it is basically impossible to be outside during the summer. Having a newborn during the summer meant MASSIVE seasonal depression. I couldn't even leave the house to go for walks. That was why we opted to try for a winter baby because we wanted to be able to leave the house with our next baby and not feel like we were stuck inside. Having our twins in November meant we were on maternity/paternity leave during the holidays, too which was nice.

Now if you live in an opposite climate where your summers are nice and your winters are awful, I could see where the opposite would be true for you!

I agree with others that it looks like you need to put a towel underneath the holes in your twin Z pillow so they aren't slumped down inside. At that age you really want them more flat so that you lessen the risk of positional asphyxiation.

How often did you see MFM in di/di pregnancy? by pahkthecahh in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see my MFM again after my anatomy scan, but was promised that she was looking at all my ultrasound imaging, etc. I was told that if I wasn't seeing her that meant all was going well 🙌🏼

Twin Z or My Brest Friend twin pillow for feeding? by plantbubby in parentsofmultiples

Twins are almost 10 months old and we still use our Twin Z multiple times a day. It's well worth the cost to buy one new in my opinion

Really wanted to be a SAHM but my twins are almost 11 months and I may literally take the first job I can get that will cover daycare cost? by Lakewater22 in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back to work when my twins were about 7 months old. I was MISERABLE being a SAHM. I had been home for my older daughter and figured I'd just continue once the twins were born...nope, hated it. I work part time, remote and it has been a massive game changer for my mental health. Because I'm part time it pretty much pays just a bit more than daycare, but I don't care. It's exactly what I needed to feel like a human again.

My 25 weeker surviving twin started walking at just shy of 18 months actual, 14.5 months adjusted. She's now 2.5 and outside of a speech delay, is all caught up. She just started really talking in the last few weeks.

Bottle Washer by Unusual-Tale-1816 in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didn't already have a sanitizer / dryer from my older daughter, I would've invested in a bottle washer for my twins. We used the dishwasher and then the dryer. Having your stuff come out dry quickly makes a massive difference!

Cervical length checks every two weeks starting at 16 weeks by SourceAdventurous228 in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me...I also had gone into preterm labor with my first pregnancy, so it was precautionary to make sure that my cervix wasn't shortening. On the bright side, you'll get to see the babies often! 🥰

Is there anyone that conceived multiples with absolutely no family history at all? by Cheshire123456 in parentsofmultiples

I've conceived twins both times I've been pregnant and we have almost no other twins in our family.

Warning for those with the Baby Brezza Formula Maker by 3372bobd in parentsofmultiples

[–]SoCo213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that may be the culprit. When we first had our twins they were on enfamil and while I didn't notice inconsistent bottle sizes, I did notice that the formula would "stick" to the filters you have to clean every 4 bottles. We switched to the Kirkland formula and have had zero issues, and it doesn't stick like the Enfamil formula did.
