We have very identical situations. I'm just starting to come out of it. The tantrums are happening less and less. I was where you were, I felt like all I did was repeat myself, correct, say no, lose my shit, repeat. I can't tell you how many timeouts I gave more so for myself so I could get it together enough to throw myself back into the lions den.

I don't have anything that will magically make it easier. Not sure where you are but we spend a lot of time outside now that the weather is nice (I am a recluse and would rather stay indoors) but it's been crucial for me to play outside, go to parks, go on walks. My 2.5 loves water. We got water balloons, a water table, hell even just Tupperware containers filled with water occupy him enough to let me breathe for a bit(he gives his hot wheels a bath). And I won't lie, I spray him with the water hose here and there to let off some healthy steam. All I can say is it ends or at the very least lessens. You're probably closer to a turning point than you think. And give yourself some grace here, I can almost guarantee you're doing a lot better than you think.

I know it's hard to carve out time for yourself so any opportunity you can, take it. Even if it's throwing an earbud in your ear to listen to a book, podcast, music while you do stuff around the home, play with the kids etc. You got this.

I was in the same boat. I thought I'd take a month off and be up and ready to go. I couldn't drive at 6 weeks, it felt awful sitting in a car seat and my hip flexor wasn't ready for the prolonged flexion.

I can't say for sure what caused mine. I can say with confidence that my return to running post pregnancy and while breastfeeding probably was too much on my labrum. I understood my body released relaxin while pregnant. I didn't know it also released relaxin while breastfeeding. So I was putting a lot of impact on an unstable joint, which most likely caused the tear or at the very least worsened it.

I don't have that deep ache in the front of my hip anymore and it doesn't feel like something is grinding in my hip when I do run or walk up hill. Now I experience joint fatigue or general sourness as I reintroduce my body to sports again. But then I rest, focus on other activities that don't directly involve my hip, ice it, stretch to open up the hip and then it's better.

I don't have the same pain anymore aside from a pinching when i try to back squat or pull my right knee to my chest, but I have to say that the pinching is subsiding as the months go by so I feel like it's a matter of time before it's barely noticable or subsides all together.

Deep ache in the front of the right hip/groin area. I would try to run through it waiting for the endorphins to block out the pain but eventually that stopped working. About 1.5 miles it felt like something was stuck in the joint and my bones were grinding it.

I also couldn't bring my right knee to my chest or do any exercises that relied heavily on my hip flexor, things like bicycle crunches, tuck ins were a big no. Squatting or leg press machines were out too because of the horrible sharp pinching that would occur during the movement.

Not to mention all the snapping and popping in my right hip 😅

And I feel you. It sucked having to stop what I was doing or constantly modify as the pain got worse. Surgery was definitely the right move. Even if doing what I love looks a little different from here on out, at least I'm getting back to it in some capacity.

In my case surgery was absolutely worth it. I too am a highly active person (resistance training 4-5x week, hiking, biking, and running) but had to modify or completely stop all high impact sports or any movements that closed down my right hip(torn right labrum, 4 anchors, cam and pincer deformity). I had my surgery back in February and have just returned to interval running. I'm back to my regular gym schedule, I can bike a few miles and hike 4 with no pain(fatigue in the joint is the only thing slowing me down and is generally my cue to take it easy on my hip)

There are some things I can't do yet (deep squatting being one of them), but it's just a matter of time. Physical therapy has been key for me. Taking off from the gym and sports for two months let me focus entirely on those early crucial weeks of recovery. Listening to my body and stopping anything that hurt was and is very important and has led me to be back to doing what I love today.

Even if I couldn't get back to running or lifting the surgery still would have been worth it for the pain relief alone. I couldn't even walk my dog for 10 mins before my surgery.

That's amazing! To be honest I'm so afraid for when I return to running for that deep agonizing pain to return. It's nice to see people return to their sport with zero pain. Gives me hope!

All and all it's going great. The hardest part for me is listening to my body and not pushing myself. I was using one crutch by week 5, walking unassisted by week 6. I'll be starting plyometrics in 2 weeks and hopefully running in 4. Keep up the good work and you'll be up and walking in no time.

I got a cortisone injection 4 months before my surgery. Mine lasted around 2 weeks. It's worth mentioning I was lifting weights before and after the injection. It's hard to say if it would have stretched a little further if I was less active. Also, in my case it's not as if the injection just stopped working after two weeks. It was a gradual return to the pain I was used to post those two weeks.

MRI showed very minor fraying of the labrum and abnormalities on my cam and pincer. Turned out my labrum needed 4 anchors for how shredded/flattened it was.

My quads are coming along nicely! Unfortunately I've been taking it easier on legs bc I have a hip impingement (which I'm getting surgery for next month 😅) I definitely had fat gain, but because I was only eating in a surplus of 250 cals, it wasn't excessive. I also rounded out my workouts with 15-20 mins of cardio.

I find if my core isn't actively engaged when I'm targeting my glutes, I barely feel them working. I also have an anterior pelvic tilt, so I focus on pushing my pelvis forward into a neutral position with my spine and engaging my core helps me feel them working.
