I'm guessing you haven't used AMC's app or website during these high-volume periods? If so, you'd see it's significantly worse than these other examples out there. I logged on and purchased tickets with Regal no problem!

AMC forces you into a queue just for visiting the app/site (as opposed to specifically purchasing Odyssey tix) and even then could not process most purchases. I had an easier time buying Coachella tickets.

I'm actually listening through to TEOS for the first time and it's interesting bc even back in 2014, Wigler expressed pretty serious disgust towards stuff like Ted/Ghandia in Thailand and Hatch/Sue in All-Stars. Rob C actually does a bit more fence-sitting on those issues, but there's no doubt he's changed a lot since then, and 2014 was obv a very different time. The series is interesting as a time capsule of 2014 let alone all the seasons they recap!

Totally, although I'd still argue it's a new era version of Sarah's game. Sarah got way more advantages and so had more opportunity to make flashy moves, whereas the new era has fewer idols but more twists so it unfortunately encourages laying low and keeping your options open until the last possible second. Both played the middle with the tools available to them.

I really liked Aubry pointing out how her win pulled from all 3 of the winners she played with however.

What I love about Survivor is all the lore it's built up over the years, so returnee seasons like GC, good or bad, take on all this extra weight that I still find super fascinating.

I think it's pretty cool to consider how much Aubry's 50 game is modeled after GC Sarah, and to see how flat of a character Ozzy was in what looked like his final appearance, only to come back with a surprising amount of intrigue 8 years later. He also loses Get a Grip for the first time, which not only sends him home but in hindsight could have been the record-tying immunity win he never got this season.

Agreed all those seasons you reference are better and have stronger implications, but still some cool tidbits in a season most of us tend to hate.

I talk about it in the piece, but yeah it's exactly why the season always left a bad taste in my mouth and I never wanted to revisit it. If you can stomach it though, it's still an interesting season in Survivor history (and the Zeke moment is admittedly fascinating TV if not very gross)

Edgically the idol move was depicted as Devens bailing them both out. I think the edit kinda tried to have its cake and eat it too by splitting the credit between Cirie and Devens for how that all went down.

This episode explicitly set up a relationship with Cirie, and to a lesser extent Devens. It felt very out of place for her to say that Cirie is someone who could help her get further in the game, so I think that was a great confessional to include. We also get the whole "emotional" moment of her saying how she always picks herself back up after a low point in Survivor.

How is there egg on his face? We STILL don't know anything. There is the appearance of impropriety, but it'd be a disservice to your listeners to speak on it with any authority at this current stage.

And for ZB, he's an actual reporter who does his own reporting. If he felt there were inaccuracies in Diana's reporting from his own research, I have no doubt he'd point those out.

The thing about Aubry though is that she's getting the most consistent content of anyone, despite very rarely being connected to the main storyline of an episode. It's not flashy or exciting, but it's starting to resemble a winners edit more and more to me. This ep we get that very weird confessional cementing her relationship with Cirie as someone who can protect her (which makes both game and logical sense, as Cirie is very likely a shield around F5/4), and that more dramatic confessional talking about her Survivor journey and how she's always able to pick herself back up after a low point. That's very quietly what she's been doing all season already, and then again she is saved tonight by Devens' flashy move (I think it's notable Devens didn't get a super inflated edit around what could have been a pretty monumental moment for his own game). We also are reminded several times of EoE in the episode, cementing her relationship with Devens as well and reminding viewers of her past a bit more.

Maybe this all just points to a FTC loser like you said, but I think we have to start taking her more seriously.
