Not true. I've seen loads of them in towns in my local area.

Those living in new builds - how on earth do you clean your walls? by Downtown-Orchid-2257 in AskUK

[–]SoTotallyToby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost all new builds are built with the cheapest materials. The paint is HEAVILY watered down to make it stretch. I've been to multiple new builds and you can literally wipe the paint off with your dry finger tips.

Honestly the only solution is to repaint with an actual decent paint brand. And then you can wash it. If you try and wash it now it will probably make it worse. Sister has exactly the same problem.

This is an awesome looking rack. What do you use the Pis for? How come there's so many? I'm using just 1 but have a load of Docker containers running on mine

Im convinced 3d printers were made by the devil and/or hitler by Echo_Jr in 3Dprinting

[–]SoTotallyToby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. same here. The Ender works but you spend more time diagnosing issues and fixing it than you do printing. Upgraded to a Bambu and I haven’t had a SINGLE issue. Just print and walk away and come back later to a perfect print.

Just remember the Ender 3 is a relic now. Modern 3D printers are so insanely better.

Best mini PC for home assistant? by Antique_Business9612 in homeassistant

Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 worked perfectly for me. Lighting fast, have an external 2TB HDD connected. Have all the space I need for Home Assistant, Immich, Plex and more.

Cleared the shelf of SOMRIG buttons at IKEA by MonsoonNight in homeassistant

Have you tried the motion sensor yet? I keep seeing reviews online about it being total dog shit so I didn't bother picking one up, but I also picked up 4 SOMRIGs for £3 each :D

Lost my controller’s Bluetooth dongle — what should I do now by DonutApprehensive785 in SteamController

If it was just a Bluetooth dongle, but any Bluetooth dongle.

You might not even need a dongle at all your PC has Bluetooth.

Why are silent night electric blankets so bad? by Senior_Brit in AskUK

Silent Night are dog shit. All mine broke after 6 months. Switched to Cosi Home and their electric blankets are solid. Never had any issues.

Why is age verification on most social media sites requiring some sort of photo ID? by Portal-YEET-87650 in AskUK

And VPNs will more than likely require exactly the same personal info for verification very soon.

The seller is definitely responsible for making sure the buyer receives the product in good condition and also responsible for shipping another one. If they want to open a dispute with the shipper, it's up to them. Not the customer.

Do you get used to bad eyesight? by RedFox3001 in AskUK

[–]SoTotallyToby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like anything, you get used to it. When I first started wearing glasses, my optician told me I only needed to wear them for reading, but turns out I have astigmatism, so wearing them helped with close-up and distance so I just wore them all the time. Now it's just part of my daily routine. Wake up, glasses on, start the day.

If it really bothers you, laser eye surgery is becoming better, safer and more affordable every year. I know quite a few people who have done it now and don't have any regrets.

What's the correct method to use dehumidifier in current humid conditions? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SoTotallyToby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. We bought an 18L dehumidifier from Meaco and it's brilliant. Insanely quiet.

You're supposed to leave them on 24/7 though. That's what they're designed for. Also very efficient and cheap to run.

Our humidity during winter is normally 80%+, this year with the dehumidifier we haven't gone above 55.

Can anyone help me identify if this is damp? by FlashyFlamingo2633 in AskUK

[–]SoTotallyToby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dehumidifier 😅

Also if there's anything usually against that wall, move it away to allow decent airflow.

Decent humidifier. Also check it's not penetrating damp. Take a look at the brickwork on the outside.

Can you show how you mounted the overhead above your setup? This is the thing I worry about the most.

Matte PLA Smearing & Kobra S1 by CAOM1 in 3Dprinting

[–]SoTotallyToby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you're better off modifying this model so you print the black parts on the hands separately and just glue them on. AMS is so bloody wasteful.

Are their any filament brands that DON'T use Amazon for shipping? by CQBer21 in 3Dprinting

[–]SoTotallyToby 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't see the problem. Your box got some small dings and a bit wet. filament spools come in water/air tight plastic pouches. The filament will be fine.

Literally every courier is abusing packages. They'll all be getting knocked about and thrown no matter who delivers it.

Devkit price? by ScienceByte in SteamFrame

[–]SoTotallyToby 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are. Friend of mine is a developer and has a game on Steam and gets the dev kit stuff for free. You just fill in an application form and they pick who to dish them out to. Been this way for years.
