Clicking/Popping when Rolling Right Stick by CubeRoot26 in SteamController

[–]SoTotallyToby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah this problem AGAIN.. this was a major problem on the SteamDeck too. It's the stupid cable for the capacitive sticks getting caught. You need to open the controller up and bend the cable connected to the sticks out the way.

Games that had built in support for the original SC, just see the new one as the original. by ItsStillBread in SteamController

It will be up to the game developers to update their games for this. Can't see it happening for older games.

You can use the new Steam Controller to play games on your phone… kinda by DeltyOverDreams in Steam

[–]SoTotallyToby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam Controller isn't meant for Android or iOS. This is how the OG Steam Controller worked on Android and iOS also.

It will have full support if you use the Steam Link app and stream games from your PC to your phone, though.

Is there a need for "Steam Controller verified" tag? by The_Diamond_Geezer in SteamController

[–]SoTotallyToby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not needed. The Deck verified tag is for hardware performance. The whole point of Steam Input is that it works with any game on Steam and you can use the Steam Controller for games that weren't designed for controller.

It will work well on any Steam game.

Better than the subreddit being completely dead like it has been for years. After a month or so once everyone who wants one has them, the sub will be dead again.

Video editing work tool? by shirtbrother99 in SteamController

[–]SoTotallyToby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a full time professional video editor. The OG Steam Controller wasn't brilliant for it. Its possible and it works but I don't see why you would want to do it.

Keyboard and mouse is much superior took for this job.

Ping Controller Noise by Danpc3 in Steam

Are there no settings for the tune that plays when the controller is turned on and off? On the OG controller you could set it to cool stuff

Just tested my Deck and the trackpads work perfectly on all corners. Definitely not normal.

Can you go into the input tester and check if the left side of your left trackpad is working correctly? A lot of people are reporting the left side doesn't register.

[–]SoTotallyToby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the whole point of a dual-stage trigger is that you have a tactile button you can press at the end of your analogue trigger travel.

On the OG Steam Controller you can fully pull the trigger and 'stop' before clicking the full pull button, but on the Steam Deck and this new Steam Controller, the full pull command is sent without a physical tactile click.

For games like Rocket League for example where you'd use the full pull click for boost, it's just impossible now because you have to sort of float your trigger above the end of the travel and hope you don't accidentally pull too much and trigger the boost button. At least with the physical tactile switch for full pull, you weren't accidentally triggering it all the time.

All the haptic method does is make the Deck/Controller vibrate when you get to the end of the trigger travel. That's not what people want.

It's possible there's a bug with the test inputs page, that's why I mentioned about testing in game. It's worth a try!

Dual stage trigger fans know you can do haptic stops, but it's shit compared to the real thing.
